Just a few short weeks ago I photographed Michelle and Tim’s maternity session at Fausel Ranch. Within 2 weeks of our session, and 15 days early, little Madelyn came into the world. And I got to photograph her at home recently with her adoring parents.
Home happens to be a gorgeous house on Auburn-Folsom road that Michelle and Tim have made their “project” over the last few years (apparently Tim loves projects, a fact which my husband wasn’t thankful to have reported to him.) The kitchen is still in the middle of a renovation and the countertops aren’t yet fitted, leaving the wooden subcounter still exposed with measurements and notes. I noticed a spot that said “Baby Bouncy Chair Location Alternate 1”. It was such a fun detail – she came so early they didn’t get the chance to put that plan into action – that I photographed Madelyn right next to those words. I’m sure this will be something they will laugh about for many years to come.
I love photographing newborn sessions at home. It’s much easier and more relaxed for new parents, who can take regular breaks – as Michelle did – to feed and change baby, and it’s also a wonderful way to document baby’s first home.
Being a tad early, Madelyn was so petite and delicate and her size added to the tenderness of the images with each of her parents, no more so than with Tim who got all glassy-eyed every time he held her. Gives me goosebumps!
Can’t wait until my next session with this family as part of their baby package, and to see little Madelyn’s personality start to shine through.
Congratulations guys!
