  • and what better time to take some time to capture this exciting time in life. I’ve known Chase’s mom, Jen for a long time now. We used to exercise together “back in the day”. I’m not sure why we don’t any longer because she has always been such a positive and motivating force to be around…really, she even made exercising FUN…hmmm…Ok, another time 🙂 I was so happy when she contacted me to photograph her son Chase, during this time of transition….somewhere between childhood and adulthood. Having an 8th grader myself, I know just how it is. Chase will complete…

  • It was about a week before Christmas and I had just purchased a brand-spanking-new Nikon camera and had a big family session planned for the weekend. I wanted to test my new baby in a portrait setting so late one night I reached out to a couple friends to see if they were free the next afternoon and the lovely Miss Macy was. We squeezed her images in after school and before dance in about 30-45 minutes – such is the life of a busy middle schooler! The best part? Macy got to surprise her mom and dad with a couple 8×10’s…

  • The Gray Family. There are many kind people in this town that I have called home for over 17 years, and the Gray family definitely comes in at the top of that list. Melinda is a dear (forever) friend and her heart explodes with endless energy and compassion for others. She’s always there for you, and for anyone, really. I’m not sure how she squeezes in all the life she does, into her own, but she does. She’s an amazingly beautiful friend, inside, outside and all around. Lance and Melinda are raising equally amazing kids and I’ve known Jack, Catie,…

  • I had a chance to meet the Kenoyer Family on a most glorious and sunny day in Apple Hill. Mary and Jason set the kids free in Larsen’s Apple Barn Park and off they went; running, playing and goofing around like kids do, sometimes with shoes and sometimes without. As a photographer, capturing kids this way is so gratifying – but you do need to be quick 🙂 Happy 10th anniversary Mary and Jason. Here are a few of my favorites…. (oh, and make sure to stop in at Larsen’s and grab a pie this fall….they really are the best in…

  • It’s so hard to believe Graydon just turned five. Having known his parents since 2009 and having had the incredible honor of photographing his birth, I sit back and wonder…5 years ago? Really? It was wonderful to get out by the river with this very busy five year old and his dad, Tom.  Tom is great dad and one of the most genuinely kind people I know. Graydon is awesome and full of big hugs…well, and very busy feet. I spent about 5 minutes capturing Graydon exploring the riverside before I increased my shutter speed 3-4x to make sure to…

  • Well, actually 3 and a 1/2.  But who’s counting?  I’ll photograph this lively little girl with the 100 watt smile at any age! Audrey is the sweet daughter of Erin and Brett, whose wedding I photographed in 2012. Following families through the most important milestones of their lives is the number one reason I love being a photographer (that, and creating beautiful art with amazing people!).  In fact, I have had the good fortune of documenting Erin’s extended family for several years, having photographed sister Courtney’s wedding in 2011, and now looking forward to photographing her other sister Kristen’s wedding this fall.  It’s always a pleasure…

  • Following my friends and clients through life milestones is something I’ll never tire of.  Photographing Ashley’s maternity session for her first child was one of those “we are all in this life together, and I love it!” moments.  I met Ashley at a photography class I was teaching and since then, she has often assisted me on lifestyle shoots and weddings.  Calm, composed, and focused, she is a wonderful person to work with, and I know those same qualities that she brings to photography will serve her well in her new role as a mother. Another client and friend of mine for years,…

  • When longterm clients become longtime friends, I know that my business is exactly everything I’d hoped it to be.  That’s what it is like with the Anderson family.  I met them when their youngest child Ryan was still an infant and have been blessed to watch them grow and evolve as a family ever since.  Even with their busy schedules (full-time jobs for both mom and dad, plus part-time soccer coaching, along with soccer playing for the kids) they still are able to find time for annual family photography.  Even if that means a sunset arrival for their afternoon session!  Doesn’t matter; when…

  • It’s not easy as you might think it would be to get many generations of family together in order to capture this moment in time. It can take some planning, some coordinating and some flexibility but it’s generally never regretted. Kudos to my friend Carol who did just that this summer while her family was in town for a visit. In fact, we did this several years ago over the Christmas holiday too. Living close to Goldridge club, we were able to utilize the playground which always keeps the kids engaged. Lots of smiles and lots of grandkids (ok, and a few…
