  • Lots of love and congratulations to Adam and Ashley who welcomed their first child, Braxton Adam Wells early on April 30. I am so thrilled for them and for their new life adventure. After getting to capture Adam and Ashley, together at the lake, just shy of two weeks before Braxton’s delivery and also Ashley in a beautiful sunset maternity session,  I already know they are becoming amazing parents. Love you all! Can’t wait to meet him.

  • Everyone knows that one of my favorite parts about living in Pollock Pines is the proximity to some amazing outdoor adventures.  With Sierra at Tahoe so close, I enjoy skiing bluebird days on the mountain, zigging and zagging through the fresh, warm and sunny air with friends and family. So what could be better than that?  Having the opportunity to photograph a family who shares the same love for the mountain energy and snow as I do! Emily and Nick are avid snowboarders who may have found love in each other, but chose a place they both love to make their promise towards forever: the 360…

  • Punctuation.  A simple dash or dot can begin, interrupt, link, end, interrogate, or energize.  Without punctuation, life is just a bunch of garbled words with no structure or form, one run-on sentence with no emotion or intensity.  Punctuation is the pulse. Ally has a favorite punctuation mark.  So favorite that it is indelibly marked on her wrist so that she always knows it’s there, always recalls its meaning.  It’s a semi-colon (;).  Which may seem semi-strange for a teenager to choose as a tattoo, but that’s because we haven’t read what came before the semi-colon.  The story of a beautiful young woman…

  • What a difference four years makes!  It was a pleasure to reconnect with the McCann Family this fall at one of my favorite places, Sly Park Lake, and see how much this gorgeous family has grown.  I always say one of the greatest rewards of my career is that I get to work with families many times over the years and in a sense, grow with them!  In 2012 when I photographed the McCann Family at Boeger Winery, youngest daughter Ellie was just a baby and big sister Hailee a smiling tot.  Today they are two beautiful little girls with an…

  • When longterm clients become longtime friends, I know that my business is exactly everything I’d hoped it to be.  That’s what it is like with the Anderson family.  I met them when their youngest child Ryan was still an infant and have been blessed to watch them grow and evolve as a family ever since.  Even with their busy schedules (full-time jobs for both mom and dad, plus part-time soccer coaching, along with soccer playing for the kids) they still are able to find time for annual family photography.  Even if that means a sunset arrival for their afternoon session!  Doesn’t matter; when…

  • It’s not easy as you might think it would be to get many generations of family together in order to capture this moment in time. It can take some planning, some coordinating and some flexibility but it’s generally never regretted. Kudos to my friend Carol who did just that this summer while her family was in town for a visit. In fact, we did this several years ago over the Christmas holiday too. Living close to Goldridge club, we were able to utilize the playground which always keeps the kids engaged. Lots of smiles and lots of grandkids (ok, and a few…

  • Wow!  Hard to believe that Keegan is already graduating from El Dorado High School.  It seems like just yesterday he was 5 years old and we were having our very first photography session with his sister Caitlin.  It really has been that long!  Following clients through the many stages of their lives is what makes my job so rewarding and FUN, and I am so happy that I got the opportunity to chronicle this latest rite of passage for Keegan. Keegan likes to work out, as you can probably tell from the pictures.   In fact, we share the same personal…

  • Getting to photograph the continuing stories of my past wedding clients is one of my most favorite things to do. I love the connections maintained with my wedding couples and the candidness that a little history can bring to my work for a client. A wedding, though just one day, is often a multi year process from an engagement session to wedding booking and planning to the actual wedding to their wedding album completion.  Stephanie and Bill’s particular story began with an engagement session at Sly Park Lake in 2011 and then a 2012 wedding at Stephanie’s family home in Placerville. Several years later and…

  • Last week I met up with local high school senior Abby and her mom, Alice to capture this life milestone in Abby’s life and talk about the beginning of the next one. Abby and Alice have a wonderful mother/daughter relationship and I enjoyed observing them both take it all in; Abby, clearly excited about what is next and Alice, also excited for her but still preparing to see her youngest leave home. These sessions can be a shared rite of passage and as a mom myself, beautiful to be a part of. With three college acceptances to choose from and graduation only a few short months away, Abby now gets to decide…
