  • Wherever you go, go with all your heart.  ~Confucius And so it goes…later this month Paige will grab her royal blue cap and gown and gracefully cross the stage at El Dorado High School as she retrieves her diploma. Wow. 16 years later. Our families have been friends since 2002 when Jaci, Paige’s mom had a daycare center that our children attended for years. In fact, back in the day, Jaci also used to work for me and I have always valued her as a worker, caregiver and friend. What a treat to get to photograph her oldest daughter- such a…

  • It’s never too late to take senior photos – it still counts, even if you already have a year of college under your belt.  Because senior photos are not about what age you are on the calendar, but what place you have graduated to in your heart. David admitted to me that he was actually feels more “like himself” now than he did when he graduated last year, and I think the comfort and ease with which he approached his photo session proves it.  I just loved how he incorporated different looks and activities into his session, allowing me to document his incredible…

  • Ahhh, Simone.  Even her name is graceful!  Just like the lovely dancer that she is, Simone exudes a delicate beauty and poise that takes my breath away. When I arrived for her senior session, Simone subtly dropped that she had brought her toe shoes with her, and I not-so-subtly exclaimed that we MUST head upcountry for some dancing shots in the mountain sunset! (“text your mom, we’re going to be late”). Both nature and dancing have always been in my blood and I thrill at any chance to combine the two into an artistic expression of grace and beauty.  Simone…

  • Punctuation.  A simple dash or dot can begin, interrupt, link, end, interrogate, or energize.  Without punctuation, life is just a bunch of garbled words with no structure or form, one run-on sentence with no emotion or intensity.  Punctuation is the pulse. Ally has a favorite punctuation mark.  So favorite that it is indelibly marked on her wrist so that she always knows it’s there, always recalls its meaning.  It’s a semi-colon (;).  Which may seem semi-strange for a teenager to choose as a tattoo, but that’s because we haven’t read what came before the semi-colon.  The story of a beautiful young woman…

  • It’s not easy as you might think it would be to get many generations of family together in order to capture this moment in time. It can take some planning, some coordinating and some flexibility but it’s generally never regretted. Kudos to my friend Carol who did just that this summer while her family was in town for a visit. In fact, we did this several years ago over the Christmas holiday too. Living close to Goldridge club, we were able to utilize the playground which always keeps the kids engaged. Lots of smiles and lots of grandkids (ok, and a few…

  • Wow!  Hard to believe that Keegan is already graduating from El Dorado High School.  It seems like just yesterday he was 5 years old and we were having our very first photography session with his sister Caitlin.  It really has been that long!  Following clients through the many stages of their lives is what makes my job so rewarding and FUN, and I am so happy that I got the opportunity to chronicle this latest rite of passage for Keegan. Keegan likes to work out, as you can probably tell from the pictures.   In fact, we share the same personal…

  • Early one morning last week, my trusty assistant (and daughter) Jaz and I headed out to meet Ayumi and her mom, Akemi. A field of green, wet with the morning dew and the moisture of a rainy spring, greeted us as we captured Ayumi in the soft morning light(and a few bugs too). Later this spring, she will be graduating from high school and heading onto California State University, Fullerton to continue her interest in theatre. A beautiful young lady, a bright smile, a cute hat and all that with her bold dreams ahead of her. I’m not normally a morning riser but for this type…

  • Friendly, smart, personable…another wonderful afternoon with a graduating El Dorado High School Senior-Dakota Keeton, Class of 2013. Dakota enjoys water polo and with a little prompting, he humbly told me about the several colleges he was applying to. He also expressed interest in traveling and living abroad after college, perhaps Chile in South America. We spent the last part of the session shooting in the sprinkler system facing the sunset. He commented that he wasn’t really getting that wet.  My gear and I on the other hand, were drenched!  I came home and let my gear dry out again, ready…

  • From the babysitter of my young girls to a graduating El Dorado high school senior…Samantha is moving on to the next step in her life. She will be attending our local community college, staying close to her two sisters and Mom and Dad. Just days before graduation with the fear of rain on her big day, her smile still shone amongst the spring flowers. She’s so beautiful!  Congratulations Samantha and best wishes to you in the new adventures that await you. I wish you all the success, love and happiness that this world has to offer and that you are…
