  • You have to be careful when you live in Pollock Pines, and spring hits and you still leave the house wearing fleece and long sleeves. Don’t go down the hill dressed like that- you will burn up. Even in Camino at the Apple Mountain Golf Course it was very warm when I met Hayden for his senior shoot. I hadn’t seen Hayden since his family had family photographs a couple years ago and I didn’t even recognize him. A lot can change in a couple years which is why I am so often reminded how important it is to capture…

  • “A wet knot is harder to untie than a dry knot”….and this is the ol’ proverb that is supposed to provide solace when it dumps on your wedding day. It dumped on my wedding day too and to this day, the wet weather will always bring back fond memories of the best day of my life: wet bride, lucky bride- I’m a firm believer! Karen and Dave’s wedding day was no exception. After meeting on Match.com and Karen, needing a little nudging from Dave to go out on their first date, they finally tied the knot in some of the…

  • This all day, beginning-intermediate workshop will be taught by Lisa Richmond on April 10 in Camino, CA and hosted by Kim and Bob Little. There are a few spaces still left. My goal is to keep this workshop small for more one on one with each student. The workshop includes a 50 page workbook and the time will be divided between in the classroom and out in the field practicing what is being learned using “people” as models. Field time will include both observation and “hands on” experience setting up shots, and using drills to practice your camera settings. Images…

  • Pollock Pines was digging out of a storm the day Anna and I drive down through Folsom over to Penryn to meet Trisha and Justin for their engagement shoot. It was a beautiful spring day(in Folsom). Everyone was out jogging, bike riding and walking over the Rainbow Bridge. I felt like I was in another world. Trisha and Justin met at Westmont College in Santa Barbara. Her first boyfriend and his last girlfriend! Easy going, fun loving and adventurous- we had a great time exploring a new location. They will be getting married at the Flower Farm in Loomis on…

  • I’ve truly enjoyed Courtney and Josh from the first day I met them (big thanks to Jenn and Jeff for introducing us). They are young, fun and ready to take life by the horns (and can tear up a dance floor too…just sayin’). They first met at church camp over 10 years ago, and apparently Courtney had her sights set on Josh from the first time she saw him. And here they are, many years later, as husband and wife. Their January wedding was a great way to start off the year. They chose to do a “First Look” which…

  • Marysue and Ty helped us buy our first home about 10 years ago. If you are in need of some real estate help, we loved working with them. Contact them here at Coldwell Banker,  I can personally recommend them. As soon as Marysue contacted me I was excited to do whatever I could to help them out. They were playing host for all of Marysue’s brothers and sisters to celebrate their dad, Grandpa Boumann’s,  90th birthday. This sounds like a relatively easy task, just hosting a family birthday party right? That is until you hear that Marysue has 3 brothers and…

  • It seems fitting to me that this first post of 2011 is about a birth as it is also the first post of my newly created Facebook Fan page, another birthing of sorts. If you enjoy my photography, please become a fan of my page. Thank you. I love to photograph births. I’m not sure why. I mean of course, capturing the exact moment that life enters this world is fascinating, spectacular and amazing. Jaw dropping, really. Capturing all the raw emotions before, during and after- I’m energized by these types of unrehearsed moments. But after pondering it, I think…

  • Well, I can finally say I am done till 2011. Well, almost. Again, being “done” lately seems to rest on someone or something else- this time, Comcast. I would have been done yesterday except with this fabulous mountain living (I really do love it except for the inconvenient storms and effects), we lost our internet service again! As I sit here and wait for them to show up to fix it so that I can post these final images of the season, and get my family out the door to go skiing….I think that my husband is pacing… 🙂 ,…

  • After numerous days of rescheduling, I finally got to get out in what looks like may be the last sunny day of the year to photograph Jessica’s family. Dressed in holiday red, we strolled the vineyard capturing some sweet moments with her family. I thought Jess did a great job coordinating their clothes, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from her- she’s got a good eye for that! Merry Christmas Miller Family and thank you for the opportunity to do this for your family! Click here for a slide show from their session!
