  • It’s always great to have family photographs taken at your own home. It’s a wonderful way to remember your first house, the house where your kids grew up, or the house you grew old in. And it’s great for me when the property is as beautiful as the Coyle Family’s is. Our day started out great! Mari must have planned afternoon naps perfectly because her beautiful boys, Emmett and Max, were all smiles for their photo session together in the rocks of their front yard. As the sun was setting behind them, the light was perfect and I couldn’t stop…

  • Capturing the height of fall with the McCann family at the beautiful Boeger Winery, we were so glad that we also hit a beautiful, sunny day!  It is especially hard for parents of this age group to get it all together, cleaned, ward-robed and to the shoot on time, that I commend Reiko for booking early and giving herself plenty of time to find some cute clothing. As it sometimes goes with these sessions, especially the ones you plan way ahead for:) Hailee fell on the playground a few days before our shoot and scraped up her face so we…

  • After many session reschedules(and I know how hard it can be to get so many family members, going in so many different directions, together), we finally arrived at our session last week at Boeger Winery on a beautiful fall day. I applaud John for his diligence in making it work. Time slips away so fast. There were no Japanese maples in bloom as they were at the Kessler home earlier in the year but plenty of color from the vines. Several years back I photographed Andrew’s senior photographs and now he is continuing his studies at UC Davis. Add a…

  • I had to ease my way into this session. I was working with a sleepy almost four year old that had taken a nap on the car ride over.  It can sometimes take little ones a little while to warm up to a strange photographer, and a sleepy one requires some pre-photo session bonding. I was able to connect with Marina while tossing rocks into the lake.  She loved it, which made it hard to pull her away from the water’s edge.  I succeeded…and was able to switch her to throwing the fall leaves over her Mom and Dad.  Every…

  • I had fun with Bill and Stephanie from the moment I met them. Photographing them is like a playful jam in which the banter back and forth becomes part of the capture-freestyle. Their gorgeous wedding was set in Stephanie’s parents’ backyard and thanks to Bill and his “now” father in law who put in so many hours adding koi ponds, pavers and landscaping to prepare for the big day. After the dance floor was installed over the pool we were set to go! Bill of course gave me his signature pose -both arms up in the air- like he won…

  • My assistant Amy’s big day was finally here! We had prepped for this day for months… We started with a flirty session with the bride and followed it up with the groom doing back flips off of the diving board. Typical? Well, maybe. They rented a large home in the Newcastle area(Green Hill Ranch) so that they could all stay at the same location and spend the day getting prepared. Some of the family enjoyed the morning reading books on the big, historic front porch. At around 3pm we headed over to Newcastle Wedding Gardens. The wedding was a beautiful…

  • Friendly, smart, personable…another wonderful afternoon with a graduating El Dorado High School Senior-Dakota Keeton, Class of 2013. Dakota enjoys water polo and with a little prompting, he humbly told me about the several colleges he was applying to. He also expressed interest in traveling and living abroad after college, perhaps Chile in South America. We spent the last part of the session shooting in the sprinkler system facing the sunset. He commented that he wasn’t really getting that wet.  My gear and I on the other hand, were drenched!  I came home and let my gear dry out again, ready…

  • Well, one thing is for certain, little Aria is so, so loved. I first met Todd and Linda  a couple years ago when they asked me to take some photographs for their adoption portfolio and just about 6 months ago, they adopted sweet Aria who has the brightest eyes and smile. What a love! Linda has been out doing what any new mother might do at the holidays, buying cute little things for her new daughter to wear. This is Aria’s Halloween attire…You all are lucky to have each other!

  • I was warned Tyler would be a handful, trying to get any two and a half year old to sit still is a challenge of its own. But what a cutie! Within the first five minutes I had my shot, a perfect family photo. Tyler and Brianna, his eight year old sister, must have been practicing their picture posing because both of them had it down. All evening Tyler showed off his dimples and Brianna her smile. What a beautiful family. Our evening continued with playing in the park at Larsen Apple Barn; running, tumbling down the hill, twirling like…
