Lake Tahoe Senior Portrait Photographer

When it’s right it’s right. Instantly we were all having a blast enjoying the great outdoors of Lake Tahoe. Kim and Sean are vibrant, warm and athletic and I was so excited for their paddle board session. Our plan was to use Donner Lake “proper” but the wind was howling that day which sent us to a small inlet behind Donner Lake. I’m looking forward to their August Truckee wedding! River, rocks and the Death Gap. Ok, Ryan didn’t make us jump the gap (thankfully) but we sure had fun in the outdoors down by the American River at Alder Creek Tract. Ryan is a senior at a local charter school in Camino and is about to graduate. Next fall he will start at Lake Tahoe Community College where he will be closer to one of his great loves… the snow! You have to be careful when you live in Pollock Pines, and spring hits and you still leave the house wearing fleece and long sleeves. Don’t go down the hill dressed like that- you will burn up. Even in Camino at the Apple Mountain Golf Course it was very warm when I met Hayden for his senior shoot. I hadn’t seen Hayden since his family had family photographs a couple years ago and I didn’t even recognize him. A lot can change in a couple years which is why I am so often reminded how important it is to capture…

Anna and I met Macy and her mom and sister down at Boeger. Coming down from Pollock Pines, it’s amazing to me that it is still fall “down the hill”. Being from even further down the hill, they wanted an Apple Hill backdrop. Macy, a natural beauty with those ever changing blue/ green eyes was fun to shoot. Her mom wanted to get a few with her sister too so I photographed a few individuals while Macy was changing outfits. It’s always fun to photograph sisters. Congrats Macy on your upcoming graduation.

It was a beautiful day at Boeger Winery when we met up with Andrew for his senior session. Andrew is a guitar player, and brought his guitar along for the shoot.  Not only did it serve as a great prop throughout the shoot, but it made for a fantastic atmosphere to work in – the rolling hills of the vineyard, beautiful evening light, and gentle music played by Andrew himself – not a bad way to enjoy sunset, I’d say! My “past life” included about 15 years as both a live and recording studio engineer and I have great affection…

Brianna is going to be a biology major at Northern Arizona State this fall. She graduates from El Dorado High in a few short weeks. I love the late afternoon light at High Hill so we started off there. Brianna was fun and playful with the camera right off the bat. And trust me, the camera loves Brianna! After a few locations around High Hill we took off to another Camino location looking for “some field” also in the late afternoon sun. White dress, beautiful girl, glowing field…I love my job! Kalene is Graduating! Kalene was so excited for her senior shoot and so were Cassie and I… because Kalene is my other assistant when Cassie is unavailable ! It was really fun & easy to work with someone who not only is so beautiful but that also knew the flow of a shoot and knew us well too. Kalene wanted to go to the Consumnes river for her session, and we found a bunch of great spots including a cool bridge. Congratulations on your upcoming graduation Kalene! Here is your slide show!

Ah yes Sierra at Tahoe…Days like this, you sit back, take a deep breath of fresh air and exclaim, “I love my job”! I can usually do these Sierra shoots without an assistant, mostly because the blanket of snow is an amazingly efficient photographic reflector. This time however, my husband Jeff joined us to help carry my gear- my own personal(and cute) sherpa! (I think even HE loved my job that day :))  Late February I injured my shoulder in a ski accident and have been rehabilitating it ever since. I thought it was smart not to totally push it…
