Headed over to Gold Ridge on a sunny Christmas eve to capture the Ganno family all in from out of town. This year little Hayes from Colorado was the new addition to the family- just 5 months old. I feel fortunate to get to work with many of the same families year after year. I believe it has been about 8 or 9 consecutive years now with the Anderson family. This year we mixed it up a little with formal attire against the historic Coloma background. I love the grey attire, the bright green grass against the old rock walls. Kim and Sean love anything outdoors so Truckee, with its proximity to many gorgeous locations, was the perfect location choice for them. From their family Donner vacation home to the Assumption Catholic Church, to Donner Lake and then to Tahoe Donner Lodge- we pretty much hit it all! So many beautiful moments at this wedding. I woke up for a sunrise shoot for Amy and Ryan. Just sayin’. If you know me, this is rare. I am a night owl. I shoot the late afternoon light as much as I can. Since Amy and Ryan are a couple who are game for anything- I was too! This was the final of three Tahoe shoots I had that weekend and a great way to start the day(along with the cup of coffee I started the hike with:)  Since I usually shoot in the evening- it was bizarre to have the light increase as we went along…

I’ve known Mark and Barbara for quite some time now- from back in my bay area music days! In fact his good friends brother is married to my best friend’s, husband’s sister. Good luck following that! When it’s right it’s right. Instantly we were all having a blast enjoying the great outdoors of Lake Tahoe. Kim and Sean are vibrant, warm and athletic and I was so excited for their paddle board session. Our plan was to use Donner Lake “proper” but the wind was howling that day which sent us to a small inlet behind Donner Lake. I’m looking forward to their August Truckee wedding! River, rocks and the Death Gap. Ok, Ryan didn’t make us jump the gap (thankfully) but we sure had fun in the outdoors down by the American River at Alder Creek Tract. Ryan is a senior at a local charter school in Camino and is about to graduate. Next fall he will start at Lake Tahoe Community College where he will be closer to one of his great loves… the snow! I have a bunch of techniques that I use to get people to loosen up a bit and smile, but during this shoot Jeff, my husband, who was assisting me on this Tahoe shoot, utilized one that had honestly never crossed my mind before. Kate and Aaron’s wedding started on a most beautiful Lake Tahoe day. I left Pollock Pines for the fresh aired fall drive along the river and then around the east side of the lake to arrive at Northstar several hours early to check out shooting locations and make a plan for the day! I met Aaron in the Northstar Village. He claimed that he couldn’t smile on command, but I think the fact that two of his three sisters were there to make him laugh helped to remedy that.
