When I first met Jennifer and Tim it was winter and we were trekking through three feet of snow along the south side of Jenkinson Lake, chasing the light during their engagement session.  I wasn’t worried about them at all, as they are both runners and into outdoor activities. Adventurous and active couples are my favorite. THE BEST phone call to receive is from a bride asking you when you are available so that she can choose a wedding day and THEN book their wedding venue. And it all makes me smile. For their summer wedding, Brianna and Dave transformed the elegant Sequoia Mansion into a nautically-inspired dream!  The best part about it was that the couple made many of the beautiful decorations themselves, which gave their special day a heartfelt and authentic touch.  Creating your own decor is a tall order for any bride and groom, but was made even more impressive by the fact that they pulled it off long distance from their home in Alaska!  Honestly Brianna, I truly think you have a future in wedding and event staging.  Your eye for detail and composition is nothing short of stunning! When you spend 8 years photographing a family – from engagement to wedding, followed by the birth of their children and all the milestones in between – it is intensely bittersweet to photograph them one last time, in their homecourt playground in the Sierra Nevadas before they move on to new life adventures. When I met Jennifer and Abner photographing their engagement, I knew their wedding was going to be special. Jen and Abner, share a strong and playful love and I felt privileged to be invited to witness their vows.  They are each other’s rocks, they are soulmates, and they are a perfect match.  It’s no surprise that their summer wedding at the Sequoia Mansion was a great day! Ahhh, Simone.  Even her name is graceful!  Just like the lovely dancer that she is, Simone exudes a delicate beauty and poise that takes my breath away. When I arrived for her senior session, Simone subtly dropped that she had brought her toe shoes with her, and I not-so-subtly exclaimed that we MUST head upcountry for some dancing shots in the mountain sunset! Well, actually 3 and a 1/2.  But who’s counting?  I’ll photograph this lively little girl with the 100 watt smile at any age! Audrey is the sweet daughter of Erin and Brett, whose wedding I photographed in 2012. Following families through the most important milestones of their lives is the number one reason I love being a photographer (that, and creating beautiful art with amazing people!).  In fact, I have had the good fortune of documenting Erin’s extended family for several years, having photographed sister Courtney’s wedding in 2011, and now looking forward to photographing her other sister Kristen’s wedding this fall.  It’s always a pleasure…
