  • I feel old. Isn’t Paizlee still three years old? Well, she is not. She’s still beautiful and kind- just the adult version. In fact she graduates from ELDO this May after completing her senior year with online classes from ELDO. I love that this is offered for some students as everyone learns differently and sometimes the drama of a big high school isn’t the right thing. Finishing school this way has enabled Paizlee to have a job at Gut Racing where they make dirt bike seat covers. Over two decades ago(that’s 20+ years if you’re counting) I first met the…

  • Briseida (meaning distinguished, helpful in Spanish) She’s so full of life and that big smile and warm personality just draws you right in. We met up at Sly Park Lake to celebrate her upcoming graduation from Union Mine High School in Placerville. When I asked her how she would describe her style prior to the session she said, “the weather chooses my mood and outfits to be honest”. Briseida also means “breeze” in Latin which I think is also a perfect description of this lovely young burst of energy, blowing from here to there. She enjoys volleyball, traveling, hiking and…

  • Multipotentialite– new word for me. Someone who has many interests and creative pursuits, and the ability to excel in two or more different fields. Multipotentialites are often very curious, and can find creative ways to combine different ideas. They can also learn, explore, and master new skills, and have the potential to innovate and solve problems. I think this describes Nate to a T! During Nate’s senior session, I realized both in conversation with him and in actual doing…he loves using his hands and also building things. He is currently building a lighthouse for his school prom. He’s also built…

  • I met up with Walden, his cool sunglasses, and his parents’ (Cathy and Brad) in Coloma last week. He came referred to me from The Celio/McCallick family and it doesn’t surprise me that Tracy knew we’d work well together.  It was a session to celebrate Walden’s big accomplishment surrounded in the natural beauty of the great outdoors. The river was pretty high so we quickly shifted from Henningsen Park in Lotus to over by Mt. Murphy and the road bridge of the same name. Walden was easygoing, super positive and fun to work with. He has skied for the EDHS…

  • It’s that time of the year again. Spring is here and with it brings the Class of 2022- this time, it’s Kayla who is excited about graduation. A little nervous at first, to be in front of the camera, like many…but about 20 minutes in we had our rhythm dialed in and I saw the moment she started relaxing and having fun with it. Kayla’s such a natural beauty with a kind, sweet and gentle personality. At Pondo she plays soccer and rugby and loves to spend time with her friends. Next year she plans to attend GSU (Grand Canyon…

  • Guest Blogger: Ember Soleil Leddy While I first met Fiona when we were little, this year we became great friends. I started attending Charter University Prep, as does Fiona, and she made me feel welcomed immediately. Fiona does that with all of her friends. She makes it a priority to have the people she cares about feel comfortable and at peace. Or she makes them laugh so hard it feels like their ribs are cramping… She is the kind of person who puts aside everything she is dealing with to go out of her way to ask if you’re okay.…

  • We met Carlo down by the river in Coloma near where he lives to take some photographs to commemorate his senior year. As a student, making it through 20-21 is something to be proud of. As an adult it is hard but honestly, I was able to focus my energies on “around the home” activities- cleaning, tossing, cooking etc. As a high school senior it would have driven me nuts. At a time when you are finding yourself and trying to engage with folks, Covid made it all the more awkward. For the Class of 2021, the promise of an…
