Apple Hill Photographer

I’m enjoying all the fall loveliness with the Newton family in Apple Hill at Larsen Apple Barn/Bake Shop. They moved to the foothills recently from Walnut Creek and a family member got them a gift certificate for a session. Marja was concerned that they would be hard to rally in a photograph. What? They are a beautiful family with great and natural smiles. Not hard at all. And- what a ham that Little Johnny is. We had fun in the park making these images in that gorgeous, golden light. Little Miss Cutie pie is 6 months old. I got out with the whole family during the week at Apple Hill, including Dan’s parents too. The colors are always so warm and wonderful.

I was happy to get a chance to meet up with the Fleming family again this year. Their family has grown by one since last year with the addition of cute, little Jackson. We met in Apple Hill at the beautiful Larsen’s Apple Barn Park in Camino. Georgia was one of my pre-schoolers when I photographed them at Pinetop Montessori. My daughter Ember who also loves kids, joined us on the session and Georgia connected with her right away. There is so much love in this family- such a pleasure to capture it!   Where does the time go? One thing for sure, I am able to mark the passing of another year by my annual Anderson Family session. Jessica recently shared with me this photo of their photo albums that they create with their print order every year and it was so lovely and flattering to see these beautiful treasures marking every year, holding a lifetime of memories. When we are on the other side of covid, Jess and I discussed a wine date so that we can look through all of the years together. I look forward to that. Their session…

I love the process of meeting new families and getting the opportunity to capture something real with my camera. It usually takes a little to get everyone warmed up though it makes me smile when I see it happen. Those little moments where smiles are natural, makes me smile. Sure we had help from a couple cute family doggies who are incredibly loved as well as a curious, local crow. Look how much these two kids have grown, HA -and their adult parents too….though I must admit, they look the same as when I captured them on their wedding day at Fausel Ranch back in 2011.

Henningsen Lotus Park is a favorite location to photograph at and especially in the fall. When Laura contacted me to capture some images of her family, earlier this fall, in their family home before they moved- we had to reschedule at least 4 times or more due to all the smoke in the air. Their home had a beautiful sunset view that was completely covered in all the September/October California smoke from all the fires.  Well, while staying local, they did move to a new home so we came up with a plan B. Some families just have it. Sure it often takes a little to get warmed up to a camera in front of you and I get that. Though, some families are able to just settle into their own unique vibe rather easily. That was my experience with the McDaniel family. Love, warmth, joy, playful… silly. As a human, so much fun to be around. As a photographer, so much fun to capture. Sweet Miss Madilynn was just about 6 months old and Mom and Dad decided it was time to capture this moment in time. Not quite sitting on her own yet, Dad decided to take her flying….LOL (see below).
