This was such a fun and unique engagement session for Sheri and Mike, who are getting married in June at the Wedgewood Sequoia.
Our location was their farm in Elk Grove that has been in Sheri’s family for more than 100 years. Sheri’s parents moved back to the farm when she was in 7th grade and she and Mike now live there with their herd of 8 does and 20 goats. Sheri shared so many happy memories from her childhood during our session, from feeding the sheep her grandfather bought her at age 6, to “roller-coaster” rides in hay buckets. In our highly-mobile world, where most of us seem transplants from somewhere these days, it’s so wonderful to meet a couple with local roots. It was also fantastic fun to incorporate the landscape, vehicles, and buildings that are so much a part of Sheri’s history: I just love the rusty old truck half-hidden in the tall grass, which Sheri says was a truck from her grandpa’s dairy farm business.
Mike and Sheri met 8 years ago at work and were friends for a year or so before dating. On November 10th of last year, Mike proposed on an annual camping trip at Dillon Beach. Mike’s daughter Cassie will be in the wedding party and joined us on the shoot for a few photographs. They are all such down-to-earth, great people and I am so looking forward to their wedding next month.
