It's time to book your Fall Senior and Family Sessions

by Lisa Richmond

“Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability.”
– Sam Keen

Ain’t that the truth…still hoping for a little more lake swimming this summer though fall is just around the corner. If you love that warm, autumn light, sprinkled in reds, yellows, and oranges — I suggest booking your session now. Early bookers have more flexibility with scheduling around rainy weather. There’s no doubt that the fall season is the most popular time for Senior Sessions and Family Sessions in El Dorado, Placer and Sacramento counties-  let’s capture it before time slips away.

Years of studying, years grinding away at tests — the time has finally come. Now is the time to begin dreaming of your senior pictures and I want to help you create images that YOU love. As your photographer, I am here to help you relax and make sure you enjoy the experience. I walk you through the whole process to ensure your experience and your new images reflect who YOU are NOW at this stage in your life!! Let me be your guide!

If you’d like a full list of packages or are ready to book, click on the CONTACT link here, or above. I’d love to hear from you.

If you’re a parent, I encourage you to hop in for a few photos with your graduate. It’s all included in your session. Inquire and I will send you out more information about my senior and family packages.

Plan Ahead
Several months before your session, two or three, give or take — is the best time to start thinking about your session. I’m normally booked out a month-two months in advance. I recommend getting an early date on the calendar so that if it rains we have more time and flexibility to reschedule. I offer my senior sessions throughout the year. Parents often ask when the best time is to have them done, and my answer is always; whenever it’s most convenient for you and your child. For some, this means the summer after their junior year and for others, it means a few months before graduation. Fall and spring tend to be the busiest time for photographing seniors. I do recommend that you give yourself about two months before graduation so that you can send out announcements with the images we capture. Senior portrait photographs are also ideal for graduation invitations.

Start thinking…
*Think about what kind of a vibe you want for your pictures. Is it earthy? Urban? Academic? Be sure to check out my blog (https://www.lisarichmondphotography.com/blog/) where you can sort session categories by “Senior” as well as location ideas by “Mountains, Foothills, Sacramento area, and the Beach and beyond”- there are a lot of ideas for you.

*Start thinking about what location you want to be at during your session. I’ve shot against graffiti in Sacramento, the storefronts in Placerville, at the lake in Pollock Pines, down by the river in Coloma, in front of a wooded backdrop in the mountains and more. We’ll talk in more detail once you book. Meanwhile, it’s a good idea to get the gears turning. Where do you love to be? What says “you”?

*Think about what you might wear. I recommend that you don’t stray far from your personal style. Make sure the outfits you wear are something you’d wear in your everyday life. For outfits, I recommend at least two changes, or even two different shirts. Layers and accessories are great for quickly changing up a look.

*Think about any props you might like to include (musical instruments, sports equipment, your car, a pet, etc). Of course, we’ll get photographs of you without props, but I want to make sure I include pictures of you with meaningful items that represent who you are.
