Ahhh… and thus begins 2014’s engagement season!
Engagement sessions are such a fabulous way for me to get to know my couples before their wedding day (and visa versa.) Not only can we become more familiar and at-ease with one another but I can work with them to see how they like to be photographed. It really pays off on the wedding day because all that initial awkwardness is already out of the way.
In this case, there was no awkwardness at all since Sallie Grace and I attended the same boarding school, Chatham Hall and so had lots to talk about. At one point, Sallie went back to Chatham to work as Director of Development and, during her tenure there, met Ashley who was working at Chatham as the Director of Community Riding (their Horseback Riding program). As luck would have it, this lovely couple now live on the West Coast too and I will be photographing their wedding this October at the Inn at Park Winters.
From the moment this session started, there was so much laughter, Sallie Grace and Ashley are just like that; joyful and lighthearted. They brought along their two Old English Sheepdogs, Grinstead and Beasley, who threatened to overtake every frame they starred in with their soft furriness. My assistant, Jerry and I left the session with big smiles on our faces. Can’t wait until October!
