• Sigh… another scrumptious newborn. Lucky me! You may remember mom, the gorgeous Danielle from our maternity shoot not so long ago. Well now welcome Aubree, who joined us shortly thereafter. I got to meet her at just eight days old for a newborn session that is part of the baby package her parents purchased. As with all newborn sessions, you have to go in with a calm disposition and lots of patience because babies run the show: Aubree was no exception. Diapers, feedings, rocking, crying, sleeping…. it’s a constant dance to capture whatever you can between the split-second emotions and…

  • Gorgeous little Devan was just eight days old when I photographed him recently, still with his umbilical cord in his belly button and flaky newborn skin on his feet. His chubby cheeks made me want to smooch him for the entire session! Kim and Sean, his adoring parents, purchased my baby package after previously working with me to capture their engagement and wedding last year. In fact, if you follow my blog regularly, you may recall their fantastically fun engagement session paddle boarding on Donner Lake. These two love the outdoors and always seem to be busy, now, especially, with Devan in…

  • A stunning, private camp in the high Sierras and an amazingly warm and welcoming family – what a dream session! The Veerkamp family and I have been colliding since 2009, when I photographed Gretchen and Matt’s wedding. Since then, the happy couple have been in the wedding party for a few of the weddings I have photographed, and then I ran into Lori and Doug (Matt’s parents) at another wedding last year. Finally, when I saw Lori and her mom at the movies recently, she decided it was fated and scheduled an extended family session at their property up-country. This…

  • Gorgeous light! Gorgeous Danielle! What a wonderful way to celebrate the starting of another generation. Maternity sessions are often some of my favorite sessions for so many reasons. Danielle and William were expecting their first child when I took these photographs several weeks ago at Fausel Ranch, but I’ve been so busy lately that baby Aubree was already born and photographed before I got to get this session out to you all. My friend Deanna (owner of Fausel Ranch, William’s mom and Aubree’s proud grandma) was around the ranch that day. She is also a creative soul who loves photography.…

  •     Hello Friends, August 10, 2013 marked the one year anniversary of my father’s passing. I’ve been warned that “the milestones are the toughest,” and ain’t that the truth. Just a week ago, our family and friends set sail from San Diego Bay aboard “Adventuress”, a 60 foot catamaran, to celebrate my dad’s life.  This post was created to share with our many family and friends who also miss my father – some of whom were there but many more were unable to join us. Please feel free to leave any comments, words or stories below as it is in…

  • This is one of those posts that is going to elicit a chorus of “Awwww!” from everyone who visits it. The rosebud lips, the chubby arms, the strand of pearls, the HUGE smile… How can you not swoon? This little girl is a DOLL!. I have known mom and dad, John and Elisha, for 4 years now. Just 3 years ago, they were married at this same location: the beautiful Fausel Ranch. (Take a peek at their gorgeous wedding here and notice how they don’t look ANY different. Could have been yesterday.) So, it seemed fitting that we return to Fausel…

  • Ilyce is a triathlete and Pete is a runner. They met at the New York City Marathon in 2009 and were dating less than a year later. After Pete proposed at their home in San Francisco last November, they immediately decided on a destination wedding so that their friends could take time to enjoy the local area as well as the wedding celebrations. Northstar at Tahoe on a beautiful, clear-blue-sky summer day was the perfect location, and I was lucky enough, as Northstar’s preferred photographer, to be chosen to capture their special day. Ilyce and Pete began their day with…

  • Another beautiful wedding at the Wedgewood Sequoia! This time for Sheri and Mike, who tied the knot after 6 years together. Like all brides and grooms, Sheri and Mike were experiencing some “showtime” nerves on their big day and I was grateful to have spent some time with them during their engagement session to learn more about what makes them laugh and relax in front of the camera. I also confess to having had a little extra help from Mike’s fifteen year old daughter, Cassie, who was also part of the wedding party. This was just a bright, fun, and…

  • What do a roasting pig, a praying mantice, a large river rock, a bluegrass band, and a cool river all have in common? They all came together to make a memorable day for Mele and Ryan as they married at Mele’s family cabin, just off of Highway 50 in Strawberry, California. This was an intimate and relaxed wedding that beautifully expressed the personalities of both Mele and Ryan, beginning with an informal photo session with the soon-to-be-married couple admidst the majestic pines near the cabin. Then the ceremony was held atop the highest rock above the river, where their guests watched…

  • This was such a beautiful wedding for Jean and Bruce, who married recently at the Wedgewood Sequoia in Placerville. Their wedding brought together two families of different cultures, and the bride’s three children, Miguel, Paolo, and Alaina, who all took part in the wedding. The day began with Jean getting ready at the lovely Seasons Bed and Breakfast which is a gorgeous, remodeled historic house furnished with 18th century European furniture, and surrounded by beautiful porches and gardens –  a photographer’s candy store! The patio and gazebo were also the perfect setting for the couple’s “First Look”. Jean and Bruce are such…

  • Katrina and Joe were married recently at the beautiful Apple Mountain Golf Resort  in Camino, CA and on one of the hottest days of the year so far; when the temperatures hit 106 in the foothills, you know you’re in the middle of a heat-wave! We began our day getting ready at the Cary Hotel on Main Street in Placerville, where it was fun (and cool… literally) to incorporate some indoor shots of downtown and the historic hotel. I just love the dramatic light in the portraits of both Katrina and Joe sitting on the sofa there. Then we moved…

  • I had almost forgotten how much energy corralling two toddlers can be! That was until I met up with the Pooley family recently at Larsen’s Apple Barn. Supa’ mom, Amy, and her extended family have been clients and friends of mine for some time and I love them all….Amy’s sister, Emily’s, wedding, Amy and Brian’s wedding, their extended family and the list goes on. This time, as luck would have it, Amy was the winner of a session I donated for auction at CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children). Prior to getting her hands full, full-time,…
