• Eva and Stanton were already married in a civil ceremony in San Francisco earlier this year and so the pressure was off for all-but fun for their celebration with family and friends at the Triton Museum in Santa Clara. Their ceremony was held outdoors, behind the museum, in a grassy, wooded area but we also got to explore the inside of the museum for their couples photos. It’s such a different environment, dealing with modern lines and architectural details of a museum, and I love the change and challenge from my usual Sierra haunts. Eva is German and her sweet…

  • Several weeks ago I sent out an email requesting your support in voting for me in the Style Magazine Reader’s Choice Awards. And now I’m getting back in touch to show my appreciation because… Lisa Richmond Photography was voted #1 Favorite Wedding Photographer and #2 Family Photographer for 2015! Thank you, thank you, thank you, for taking the time out of your busy schedule and the litany of to-dos, to click through the online ballot and register your vote. I am so fortunate to be able to do something I love every day and knowing that it is appreciated by…

  • Melanie and Mark’s Flower Farm Inn wedding is just around the corner and we got together recently in Apple Hill for a sunset engagement session. Usually when I begin my sessions, I ease into them. A little chit-chat, some pleasantries exchanged, giving everyone the opportunity to relax before the camera turns their way. But I purposefully chose to forego that with Melanie and Mark because, right where we met was the most amazing patch of golden light illuminating a picnic bench. I hurried them straight from their car (where they were wrangling their dogs after a drive up the hill)…

  • Just a few short weeks ago I photographed Michelle and Tim’s maternity session at Fausel Ranch. Within 2 weeks of our session, and 15 days early, little Madelyn came into the world. And I got to photograph her at home recently with her adoring parents. Home happens to be a gorgeous house on Auburn-Folsom road that Michelle and Tim have made their “project” over the last few years (apparently Tim loves projects, a fact which my husband wasn’t thankful to have reported to him.) The kitchen is still in the middle of a renovation and the countertops aren’t yet fitted, leaving…

  • Casey is one! And adorable and adored by her parents, Katrina and Joe, plus older siblings, Jordan and Shayla. The family purchased my baby package to document Casey’s first year, beginning with a maternity session, and this was their last session before I put together their one year memory album. It seems almost impossible that it was a year ago that I arrived 5 minutes late to photograph Casey’s birth. One minute Katrina was 4cms dilated and then the next Casey was already with us. I couldn’t believe how quickly she zoomed into the world and that I had missed…

  • Vicki and Wayne purchased their Folsom home with the goal of fixing it up especially to host their intimate-affair, September wedding and I was honored to capture their celebrations recently. Their ceremony and reception took place poolside shortly before sunset and with lights strung overhead. Vicki forgot her bouquet at the end of the aisle and, as one is able to do in a home environment, Wayne so sweetly ran into the house to bring it to her. I loved the his-and-hers ribbons strung from their gazebo, holding their rings in lieu of ring bearers, and the fact that Wayne…

  • It’s hard to believe 4 years have flown by since I photographed Michelle and Tim’s wedding at the beautiful Fausel Ranch.   Theirs was such a fun wedding. One of my key memories was getting them to jump on Tim’s motorcycle after they walked down the aisle and while I photographed them from the back seat of a quad driven by Deanna Fausel herself.  I remember almost falling off the bouncing vehicle but kept shooting while my assistant, Anna, held on to me for dear life. The things we do for a great photo! And now Michelle is pregnant with…

  • Nate and Shelly are good friends of mine. In fact, if you’ve been following my blog, you’ll remember Nate’s name from my previous post about Kirby and Sam, as he was the primary photographer for their wedding. Nate really wanted me to photograph his wedding this September (and even consulted me on a date that he knew I would be available) and, believe me, I really wanted to photograph him and Shelley too. But like Kirby and Sam’s wedding, here was another party where many good friends would be present and where I really did want to kick-back a little,…

  • I wasn’t going to photograph Kirby and Sam’s wedding. Kirby is the son of one of my really good friends, Mary, and I had fully intended to attend their Montana wedding as purely a guest. Our mutual friend, Nate, was on-point as the photographer for the day and so I knew they were in good hands. But then I arrived and I saw the mountains, the green grass, and breathed in the lovely, clean air and I couldn’t let the idea go that I had to photograph this wedding, at least in part.  Nate had everything covered but I wanted to…

  • Ahhh, what a wonderful family to photograph right here in my own back yard. The Lockwoods have emerged from a tough year where mom, Renee, was very sick for an extended period last year. Illness can take such a toll on relationships but I could tell that everyone was in a place of gratitude, celebrating Renee’s recovery and the gift of time together. Getting to spend some time with one another by the lake, a place that is at the heart of our community here – embodying everything we love about Pollock Pines’ beautiful, outdoor lifestyle – was clearly something…

  • I just love it when friends and clients refer me to families who are a perfect fit for my personality and photography style! That’s what happened here with this wonderful family of three from Sonoma who were referred to me by a long-term client of more than a decade. Marika, Virgilio, and their young son, Diangio, drove up after a brief camping trip, to play in my neck of the woods at Sly Park Lake. Marika is a part time NICU nurse and high school teacher  which must take some serious emotional energy. Meanwhile Virgilio teaches farming and was quite…

  • Congratulations to El Dorado High school  senior, Jakob, who I photographed at Larsen’s Apple Barn in Camino recently. Senior year. The big finale. Jakob is crazy about soccer (as you can see from his images) and he plays for Ethos Academy, which is an affiliate team for the San Jose Earthquakes.  You could see him really come alive as he practiced with the soccer ball. Mom, Andi, is an old friend of mine(and a fabulous, sought after Real Estate agent). The Wagners used to live up here locally and I photographed their family a few years back. As always, it’s crazy…
