• Nate and Shelly are good friends of mine. In fact, if you’ve been following my blog, you’ll remember Nate’s name from my previous post about Kirby and Sam, as he was the primary photographer for their wedding. Nate really wanted me to photograph his wedding this September (and even consulted me on a date that he knew I would be available) and, believe me, I really wanted to photograph him and Shelley too. But like Kirby and Sam’s wedding, here was another party where many good friends would be present and where I really did want to kick-back a little,…

  • I wasn’t going to photograph Kirby and Sam’s wedding. Kirby is the son of one of my really good friends, Mary, and I had fully intended to attend their Montana wedding as purely a guest. Our mutual friend, Nate, was on-point as the photographer for the day and so I knew they were in good hands. But then I arrived and I saw the mountains, the green grass, and breathed in the lovely, clean air and I couldn’t let the idea go that I had to photograph this wedding, at least in part.  Nate had everything covered but I wanted to…

  • Ahhh, what a wonderful family to photograph right here in my own back yard. The Lockwoods have emerged from a tough year where mom, Renee, was very sick for an extended period last year. Illness can take such a toll on relationships but I could tell that everyone was in a place of gratitude, celebrating Renee’s recovery and the gift of time together. Getting to spend some time with one another by the lake, a place that is at the heart of our community here – embodying everything we love about Pollock Pines’ beautiful, outdoor lifestyle – was clearly something…

  • I just love it when friends and clients refer me to families who are a perfect fit for my personality and photography style! That’s what happened here with this wonderful family of three from Sonoma who were referred to me by a long-term client of more than a decade. Marika, Virgilio, and their young son, Diangio, drove up after a brief camping trip, to play in my neck of the woods at Sly Park Lake. Marika is a part time NICU nurse and high school teacher  which must take some serious emotional energy. Meanwhile Virgilio teaches farming and was quite…

  • Congratulations to El Dorado High school  senior, Jakob, who I photographed at Larsen’s Apple Barn in Camino recently. Senior year. The big finale. Jakob is crazy about soccer (as you can see from his images) and he plays for Ethos Academy, which is an affiliate team for the San Jose Earthquakes.  You could see him really come alive as he practiced with the soccer ball. Mom, Andi, is an old friend of mine(and a fabulous, sought after Real Estate agent). The Wagners used to live up here locally and I photographed their family a few years back. As always, it’s crazy…

  • Ahhh… the miracle of a birth. I always feel so incredibly honored to be a part of welcoming a child into the world and into a family.  There is so much unknown around the event – when exactly it will happen and how it will go – that when that tiny little ball of pink flesh arrives, it feels at once almost impossible and yet entirely natural. And so I found myself driving down the hill to Roseville after dad, Elmo, called me to let me know that his wife, Rebecca, had been admitted into Kaiser Roseville’s labor and delivery…

  •   Michele and Michael’s nuptuals took place in a beautiful private residence in Somerset, CA. The home belongs to Rick and Janice Wickham, who were Michele’s parents growing up through kinship care. They occasionally host weddings on the grounds for friends and family and I had actually shot a wedding there several years before for Miranda and Brian, which is how Michele and Michael came to know me. So many lovely touches to this wedding too. Michael’s father created a wooden “Happily Ever After” sign that hung near the ceremony site. The couple also participated in a tree-planting ceremony, blending…

  • Derek is a good friend of a good friend of mine, Ross, and he got in touch with me recently to capture some head shots. Although this hasn’t been something I have done a lot of in the past, I love to see how my style translates to new session types and so jumped at the chance. Fortunately, in addition to being a programmer, Derek is also a photographer, which meant he knew exactly what he wanted to capture and where, scouting out Folsom Lake College as the location for our session. It was a great choice and I loved…

  •   As children get older, develop their own lives, friends, and activities, it gets harder and harder to get everyone in a family together as one unit. When this rare occurrence happens, it’s something to be celebrated. Which is why, when mom, Cindy, found herself with all three daughters at home at one time, she decided to move into action and schedule a photo session. Cindy then found me through Derik and Heidi of Riptide Entertainment, who also happen to be past wedding clients of mine. We met down at beautiful Sly Park Lake in the bright sunshine to capture…

  •   After capturing baby Nyron at birth and again shortly after he arrived home, it was wonderful to catch-up with him and his wonderful mom and dad, Kailey and Matt, in Coloma recently. Nyron is such a happy, smiley baby and his parents adore him but kids don’t always perform on-cue, do they? It was a warm afternoon down by the river in Coloma and baby Nyron was not impressed by the heat or the sun. Smiles quickly turned to grimaces, joy to irritation. Mom, dad and I worked our bag of magic tricks, trying to make the vision of…

  • “Know that you are loved. Encode this in your head and heart. You are worthy.” Suzanne Walker Buck, Rector, Chatham Hall Enjoy the slideshow. And remember, it is a show that requires Adobe Flash, so put down your iPhone or iPad and watch it on your main computer or one that supports Adobe Flash. Slideshow link: http://www.lisarichmondphotography.com/SHOWITSHOWS-/2015_ChathamHall This was my 31st year photographing graduation ceremonies for my alma mater, Chatham Hall in Virginia.
