• Mary Lou, the mother of bride Kaitlyn, contacted me a couple weeks prior to her daughter’s marriage to Chaz expressing that she really wanted to make sure her daughter had some beautiful wedding photographs. I hear this alot especially from people who perhaps didn’t have their own wedding documented or even in a way that they were happy with. It’s a one chance event- you don’t get to do it again and with the unfortunate trend leaning to “Uncle Bob” (with a really great iphone, btw), some folks WANT to get it right. I don’t mind the pressure, in fact…

  • When the Shull family arrived at Sly Park Lake, Kerri and Chris looked incredibly familiar. Then, I realized I knew them due to their -flash mob- fame. Yup, flash mob fame….not everyone can claim that. They were front and center,  flash mobbing, if you will, at a sweet 16 party this past summer. When our mutual friends, the Andersons (and my “forever” clients) referred them, I knew I was in for a wonderful session. And was it…the light and the clouds that day were extraordinary. The day after a fresh snow, Kerri, Chris and their sons James(14), Jack(11) and Jace…

  • Just as the sun was setting, Stephanie and Aaron exchanged their vows at the beautiful Wine and Roses in Lodi in a romantic twinkle light ceremony, sprinkled with lots of laughter and officiated by cousin Blaine. Steph and Aaron first met at a wedding of mutual friends a few years ago, only to discover that they lived down the street from each other, knew all of the same people AND went to the same high school, but somehow had never met. Serendipity. I got a chance to get to know Aaron and Stephanie prior to their wedding as we drove…

  • At an earlier hour than I’m used to and in the glorious morning mist, I met Lindsey and Zeke at Sly Park Lake while they were in town from the San Diego area, visiting for Thanksgiving. We had planned on a sunset session the day before but the weather wasn’t cooperating so we squeezed a shoot in before they had to head for the airport to go home. I’m sure glad we did. The mist on the lake was so amazing and getting to capture Lindsey and Zeke in that great light was so enjoyable. I first met Lindsey when I…

  • I admit it. I don’t like writing. I could photograph and edit all day long, unfolding the story of a moment in time with my camera. When it comes to writing as expression, I generally feel inadequate. Getting to tell the story of families and their connections, in photographs, is my passion. When I get to the words, focus quickly fades, distractions enter, wandering thoughts prevail. “That sounds disingenuous”, “don’t settle for that word”, and “come on, you can do better than that”. Clearly it is those exact thoughts that are likely in the way of my true expression. I…

  • I met the Waller family through Pinetop Montessori in Pollock Pines. This is the second year I’ve photographed their family outside of Pinetop. When they arrived for the session, I had no idea that they had a new little one, Miss Evelyn who joined their family. It was pretty much a love fest! Happy Holidays Waller family! Here are a few of my favorites. Teething on your big brother…

  • Thank you Gustafson Family for the honor and for your kind words! I look forward to next year. Here are a few of my favs… “We had our family portraits done by Lisa Richmond Photography. I cannot rave enough about Lisa and her professionalism. She visited the location before our scheduled date and researched the area to confirm the best time to take our pictures. We did a 45 minute session and received back over 180 pictures…..I couldn’t even begin to pick a favorite. We will be using Lisa for our family portraits for as long as she will have…

  • Here are a few of my favorites from a recent session with Dan and Victoria and their family in their El Dorado Hills neighborhood. I’ve known Dan since we moved to this area back in 2000 as my husband, Jeff and Dan have worked together alot over the years. Tom and Jill I’ve known since they were born. In fact I did a twins photo session with them as infants. It was extra special to capture them as teenagers as well as spending a little time getting to know Victoria and Matteo. Happy Thanksgiving y’all (with my kids back from…

  • Kalene and Joey tied the knot on October 6 in at Black Creek Center in Copperopolis, surrounded by family and friends.Joey’s family is local to Copperopolis. Having known the Bartolo family for over 16 years, I was so honored when Kalene asked me to photograph their big day. In fact, Kalene and both of her sisters, Samantha and Jacqueline, used to babysit our kids a long time ago. Time keeps pushing on…and now Miss Kalene, outgoing with the beautiful smile, is married. That’s crazy! Joey is a bit more shy and reserved than Kalene but when I got him out…

  • Last weekend I met Bryton in downtown Placerville for his senior photograph session. He was looking for some images with more of an urban backdrop- some more edge, some more lines. It suited him and it was fun for me. I was lucky enough to photograph his beautiful sister, Ayumi a few years back, ironically, in a lovely sunlit field. Goes to show you, all siblings are different, even by the same parents. Bryton is a great kid. Kind, respectful and was connected to the process of creating some senior photographs. I was even surprised by his dad Les, a…

  • “Sister is probably the most competitive relationship within the family, but once the sisters are grown, it becomes the strongest relationship.” – Margaret Mead As the mother of two high school girls, just about 3 years apart and away at a boarding school together in Virginia, I am so grateful that they have each other to lean on.  I had a feeling their relationship would strengthen outside of our home, and it is. This was my sincere hope. I was so happy to get together with the Lockwood sisters recently for some new photographs. Beautiful girls. Rylee is a high…

  • It has been a few years since I photographed the Gimpel family and was excited they were ready for another session. After giving them a few ideas of locations, they said that “upcountry” suited them–so off we went. Chasing light on the aspens and spending time on a nearby mountain top,  overlooking the setting sun in the southwestern sky is a great way to spend the afternoon in my book. Ross, Alison, Ayla and Sage are a very connected family that I simply find easy to connect with. Lucky us! Thanks you all so much. Here are some of my…
