• March 19 was one of those early spring days in northern California where you knew rain was in the forecast, you just didn’t when it was going to start and for how long. According to Harrison, it didn’t make a bit of difference to him, he was marrying Sarah, the love of his life. Indoor, outdoor…let’s just do it! Having been a bride with the experience of a full-on downpour on our mostly outdoor wedding, I’m empathetic to this and am able to help keep my couples focused on what is most important if needed. “Wet bride, lucky bride”,  “A…

  • Of course, this Cal Poly Environmental Science major (to be) can easily become “one” with these beautiful branches of an old fallen tree in a field of late afternoon light. Kaitlin is as kind as they come and those green eyes and gorgeous whispy locks frame that beautiful smile thAt sets you at ease the moment you meet her. Ember (my assistant) and I had such a great time playing in the late afternoon light with Kaitlin and her mom. Honestly, I think being in the creative flow AND playing in the late afternoon light is my most favorite place…

  • What fun it was connecting with the Roberts family again, this time for Liam’s senior photographs. Back in 2019 I photographed his sister, Phoebe. Liam was just as photogenic and charming. He brought with him a water polo ball and a carefree, super positive attitude. His smile and laugh float comfortably alongside his easy-going personality. While admittedly a little nervous about all the changes next year, I have no doubt that he’ll settle right into college life. He graduates from Ponderosa this May and will attend Austin College in Texas to study computer science. He hopes to compete on their…

  • It’s that time of the year again. Spring is here and with it brings the Class of 2022- this time, it’s Kayla who is excited about graduation. A little nervous at first, to be in front of the camera, like many…but about 20 minutes in we had our rhythm dialed in and I saw the moment she started relaxing and having fun with it. Kayla’s such a natural beauty with a kind, sweet and gentle personality. At Pondo she plays soccer and rugby and loves to spend time with her friends. Next year she plans to attend GSU (Grand Canyon…

  • “When I hear that robin sing Well I know it’s coming on spring Oo we and we’re starting a new life” Van Morrison, Starting a New Life Miss Claire can’t wait to meet her new little sister at the end of this month, but until then, it’s all about this spunky toddler. She’s just as you’d imagine any toddler to be- curious, cute, adventurous and of course, sometimes demanding. Standing on the shoreline, Claire kept pointing at the lake and then to Dan- saying, “FISH”!  Was it a noun, a verb? Not sure but I do think the gist was…

  • Lola and Chris are expecting their first child at the beginning of April so last week was perfect timing to get in some photographs down at the lake. Lola wore a beautiful, flowing blue dress and was a trooper out in the snow. Chris stood close by putting a big blanket around her between shots. Chris’s stepfather Scott came along and helped including hoping one of my lights as needed. Next month, I’ll get to meet the little one when we get together for some newborn photos. Here are a few of my favorites from the session.

  • Guest Blogger and Photography Assistant: Ember Soleil Leddy Krysta, Justin, and Kai moved into our neighborhood last spring, and I hit it off with them immediately. They’re such kind people. I regularly go over to babysit Kai, and they’ve always shown great interest in my life. From inviting me over to have dinner often, to throwing me a birthday party (complete with a homemade cake from Krysta), their house has begun to feel like a home to me as well. That’s because of the warmth they show those around them. I remember when I came over one day to watch…

  • So far, Ember and I have been out for two senior sessions….one of the perks I imagine of having a mom who is a photographer. The first session was in downtown Sac with her good friend Fiona and then we went out again to Sly Park Lake while I was testing out my new camera, a Z6ii, mirrorless. The next session I promised her is with her famous and spoiled cat, Trouble…so stay tuned. It’s sure to be a quick one. I can’t believe my youngest is now a high school senior and graduating this May from CUP in Placerville.…

  • Guest Blogger: Ember Soleil Leddy While I first met Fiona when we were little, this year we became great friends. I started attending Charter University Prep, as does Fiona, and she made me feel welcomed immediately. Fiona does that with all of her friends. She makes it a priority to have the people she cares about feel comfortable and at peace. Or she makes them laugh so hard it feels like their ribs are cramping… She is the kind of person who puts aside everything she is dealing with to go out of her way to ask if you’re okay.…
