Nikki will soon be brightening the campus of University of Reno/Nevada with her dimpled smile and blue eyes. She’s just finishing up her senior year at El Dorado High. I spent the end of a lovely day with her at the High Sierra Iris Gardens in Camino—the natural background of vibrant flowers is the perfect complement to Nikki’s glowing beauty, especially since she has a strong interest in the healing properties of plants and foods. She’ll be studying nutrition in the fall.
Joining us for the shoot was Nikki’s Dad, Ben. He watched and admired his grown daughter through the day while reflecting on taking his second of three kids to college. I was able to snap a few pictures of these fleeting yet really special father/daughter times before she heads off to a new world. I love being able to capture milestones like these for families.
Nikki’s family owns The Painted Owl on Main Street, a store that provides home furnishings and décor created by artists and crafts people committed to the principles of repurposing, reusing, restyling, recreating, and re-loving items that might otherwise be overlooked or undervalued. They have some beautiful pieces in there – so be sure to stop in and say hi!
A big thank you to the Visman’s and High Sierra Wedding and Iris Gardens for generously allowing us to shoot in their almost-peaked iris garden and gorgeous property! And special thanks to my assistant Shelley.
