I was so excited when Megan asked me to save their date! I’ve photographed her family’s milestones at numerous times over the years it was the cherry on top to photograph the final O’Rilley wedding. We did an engagement session last year and once I met Ryan and saw the two of them together I knew this would be a great day, and it was.
When they booked, in the back of my head, I thought this might be my last wedding—the beginning of me winding down a bit. It seemed a perfect punctuation to the cyclical nature of my wedding photography (from kids, to families, to seniors to weddings, to babies and around again). Getting to work with Megan and Ryan and their energy, love, laughter and kindness, reminded me how much I enjoy this. That said, I am still taking bookings for next year :), no wind-down in sight, and looking forward to it!
The Davies Family Inn at ShadowRidge Ranch is a beautiful place to work. I was just there two years ago for Brother-Ryan’s marriage to Stephanie (Megan’s brother)- and they just had a baby!!! There is a lot of space to spread out with gorgeous backdrops everywhere at the Ranch. Funny, at the beginning of the day, when I thought I first saw Groom-Ryan (whom I hadn’t seen since the engagement session), I was actually speaking to his twin brother, whom I didn’t know he had.
Lots of locals, lots of tears, lots of emotion- this was certainly one for the books. After photographing more than 400 weddings over the last two decades, you get a feeling when it’s meant to be. These two…for sure. I’m so happy for them.
