Karl and Martha eloped over the Christmas holidays at their beautiful riverside home tucked along the North Fork of the Cosumnes River. It was their unofficial 15th anniversary. Choosing to keep things simple and quiet, much like they lead their retired lives, Martha’s sister, Margaret officiated and Bruno, the cherished Lab, was their ring-dog.
Did I say retired AND simple and quiet? Hmmm. I first met up with Martha and Karl at their property in advance and we walked around looking at spots they were considering for their ceremony location. Cruising around the muddy hills in their UTV, down to the river, and then up the mountain, and witnessing the numerous projects they have going on, I imagine I got a good chuckle from both of them when they read “simple and quiet”!
If you remember Christmas week, it was rain, rain and more rain. It wasn’t until the two hours they reserved for their ceremony that the rain held back and the greens of the moss and reds of the ladybugs were saturated, rich in their vibrant, natural colors.
I loved getting to capture their elopement and the two of them are delightful human beings, rich in spirit, generosity and kindness. Their love for each other, palpable. Congratulations!
