One year ago, two of my longtime clients brought a beautiful baby girl into the world. How lucky was I to get to document her first birthday! I love photographing celebrations, and there have been many of them in her family’s life. It all started with an engagement session for Mom (Michelle) and Dad (Tim), followed by a fun and easy going wedding at Fausel Ranch, then the maternity, newborn and six month sessions for sweet baby Madelyn.
Time flies and I am so grateful to have been part of these major milestones! I am always gratified and humbled when I get to follow a family through life’s special occasions, as I have been fortunate to do with many of my clients (I use the term “client” loosely, as these families always become near and dear friends). Reconnecting with them as I document a fleeting moment in their lives is one of the greatest joys of my job. That and snuggling with their cutie-patootie babies. 😉
Michelle and Tim are super fun for me to work with because they are up for anything and indulge me in my creative side. I still get a kick out of the photos I took of them on their motorcycle departing the ceremony on their wedding day. Madelyn proved to be just as spunky as her parents, goofing around with Mom and Dad and clearly relishing in her newly acquired mobility. I l o v e the determined and playful look on her face as she goes tumbling through the grass! Such a keeper, that one.
My plan with child photography is always to not really have a plan. A kid is going to do what a kid is going to do, and when they do what comes natural, then the photos come naturally, too. I just made sure to get Madelyn in a spot with some gorgeous light and let her go for it!
Thank you Michelle and Tim for inviting me to photograph Madelyn’s first birthday milestone. Here’s to many, many more!
