THE BEST phone call to receive is from a bride asking you when you are available so that she can choose a wedding day and THEN book their wedding venue.
And it all makes me smile.
I photographed the wedding of both of her sisters, Courtney and Erin, and now it’s Kristin’s turn! Kristin is tying her own knot to Derek at a beautiful vineyard-side wedding this fall, in Lodi. If it is anything like her sisters’ previous weddings, the absolute abundance of love, family and laughter will abound. I love her family and all the fun I’ve had documenting some very special milestones.
I enjoyed getting to know the two of them better during their engagement session a few weeks ago. We covered a lot of ground, chasing the light if you will. We started up by Ice House Reservoir, moved to a meadow along the way and then out to the ridge for some mountain top light. We even tried to hit the river below on the way home in the dark, but flashlight focusing and face swarming buggies called the evening for us. Derek is a bit of a goof ball(and perhaps just in front of the camera…) but he kept Kristin laughing the whole session and I think their flirtatious fun loving nature came through. By the way, he’s also an ace at u-turning a very large 4 person cab truck that gets excellent gas mileage(I’ll leave the specs to him), in very small spaces as I moved us around very quickly, upcountry, down country and beyond. Chasing the light.
It was super fun getting out with the two of them and I can’t wait for their Mettler Family Vineyard Wedding.
Oh, and my daughter, Jaz assisted on this one. That makes me smile too.
