Karina and Colin met while working together on the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA in 2018. They say tragedies can bring people together and after spending such an emotional time on this fire, helping so many, they decided they had found love in the storm.
Traveling is one of their shared passions and when they travel, they enjoy anchoring in one location and spending weeks at a time exploring the area. While in Mexico on a recent trip, they adopted a pup- whose given name was Bear. Feeling like their Mexican perro needed a Spanish name, they swapped for the Spanish word for Bear, and now they share an “Oso”. Oso, they say, is the center of their world. And he is. However, since he wasn’t exactly ready for the prime-time walk down the aisle, Karina instead enlisted a slew of flower girls and junior bridesmaids. So cute!
Their wedding was hosted on Nate and Nat’s property in Placerville. Nate is Karina’s brother. Looking back over a decade ago(maybe two?)- I first met Karina’s family through photographing Nate’s senior photos in the snowboard park at Sierra at Tahoe. I remember his mom commenting that the photos allowed her to see Nate’s snowpark passion for the first time. He was so talented that even though I’ve done numerous photo sessions at SAT over the years, no one has been THAT good. That session led to Karina’s senior photos as well as a couple of other family events. I was happy when Karina called about their upcoming wedding!
The weather on their wedding day was perfect and the property was buzzing with about 180 of their closest friends and family. They wanted a very relaxed event, more like a family reunion/picnic- and that’s what they got. They also hired a great live band, “Actual Proof” who provided sweet grooves for the day.
These two are kind, easygoing and love to laugh and joke around. I have so many photographs of them cracking up together – definitely the best way to spend your wedding day. Marry someone who makes you laugh and you’ll survive any storm. After all, it’s how their relationship started, during a firestorm. They’ve got this!
