Karen and David ~ Lake Natoma Inn ~ March 19, 2011

by Lisa Richmond

“A wet knot is harder to untie than a dry knot”….and this is the ol’ proverb that is supposed to provide solace when it dumps on your wedding day. It dumped on my wedding day too and to this day, the wet weather will always bring back fond memories of the best day of my life: wet bride, lucky bride- I’m a firm believer!

Karen and Dave’s wedding day was no exception. After meeting on Match.com and Karen, needing a little nudging from Dave to go out on their first date, they finally tied the knot in some of the craziest weather El Dorado County has seen, well, since my wedding:) The day was full of big smiles and laughter and that “meant to be” feeling was bountiful in their beautiful new home as they got ready for their wedding. It was a soggy day but clearly no ones spirits were dampened.

Karen and Dave chose to do a “First Look” in order to spend the entire day with each other versus hiding out from each other until the ceremony. I loved incorporating the entry to their new home: a door opening up into a new life together. A “First Look” also provides the couple much more time together in that moment of seeing each other for the first time. They can talk, admire, kiss and enjoy the start of their lifetime together. As a photographer, I am able to get most of the photography done prior to the ceremony enabling the couple to move right into their reception with family and friends after their ceremony.

Many thanks to Kristy and Ross(married in Jan 2009) for introducing me to Karen and also to Anna Vollmer and Ross Hayashi who assisted and second shot with me for the day. I couldn’t do what I do without my team, and especially in all of the uncertainty and changing of plans that the weather brought. Take a bow, guys- Thank you for always giving it 110%.

Congratulations Karen and Dave- wishing you many years of music, love and laughter! Here is your slide show- enjoy. All of your proofs will be up in a couple of weeks.

Lisa, we had such a blast doing these photos with you. You captured in these photos of Dave the man I love; his spirit and his zest for life. A spirit that makes him the perfect mate for me. Somehow, you caught, through the lens of your camera, the image of the love he gives me everyday and the warmth and generousity that fill the lives of the people lucky enough to call him a friend or part of their family. Dave has truly made my life “better than it’s ever been.” (Keith Urban’s song “Making Memories of us”) Thanks for capturing that.

Stunning! I love their feet and the reflection on the damp ground, a fabulous creative way to capture the mood of the day. I am also loving the way you collage them together, the shapes and colors all bring the entire event together perfectly! Thank you for sharing!
