As this year is about to close, here is my last wedding of 2023 – Juliana and Evan. Gorgeous day, gorgeous location, gorgeous couple- and while I admit bias, they’re one of the sweetest couples I’ve had this year. I’ve photographed Juliana and her family several times over the years after meeting them through a dear mutual friend. I was honored to get to capture these moments for them.
I love a good “meet cute” and this one places both of them in Salem, Oregon where they were both working and going to University. Juliana was asked to rearrange a bunch of furniture and Evan’s boss sent him to help her.
Just. Like. That.
It is easy to understand how they connected so quickly because they have such a natural dynamic.
They met in September of 2022 and their first date was November 19, 2022 exactly one year before their marriage. On that date, Evan shared some parts of his journal with Juliana and they went swing dancing and got tacos. Fast forward one year and their marriage celebration included a packed dance floor with a taco bar. Love it!
Evan asked Juliana’s dad before proposing in July of 2023 on a family trip where they hiked to the top of the cliff overlooking the beach that had three crosses at the top.
These two smiled the day away amongst family and friends who also helped with flowers and decorations. Truly a team effort. Juliana wore Evan’s jacket in the chilled weather. They hired DJ Grant Peterson because he knows how to accelerate any dance party and that was important to the couple…not that that was needed with this crew. After the wedding they escaped in a well-decorated vehicle to a mystery location- Evan wanted to surprise Juliana- how sweet!
Juliana and Evan share a love of outdoor adventures in cold water locations, trying new foods, dancing, and simply connecting in conversation. Looking over all these images of their new union makes my heart warm this holiday season. As I get ready to settle into my own children and extended family being in town this year for our Christmas, I am reminded of the importance of family and making time. Congratulations you two. Here are some of my favorites with your complete gallery to come in the New Year. Merry Christmas and enjoy!
