Ilyce is a triathlete and Pete is a runner. They met at the New York City Marathon in 2009 and were dating less than a year later. After Pete proposed at their home in San Francisco last November, they immediately decided on a destination wedding so that their friends could take time to enjoy the local area as well as the wedding celebrations. Northstar at Tahoe on a beautiful, clear-blue-sky summer day was the perfect location, and I was lucky enough, as Northstar’s preferred photographer, to be chosen to capture their special day.
Ilyce and Pete began their day with a pre-morning run together. Then, after getting ready with their cherished dog, Cuzco,we regrouped for a “First Look”. This gave us lots of intimate time with them together before the wedding, allowing them to leave the ceremony and join their guests to begin celebrating!
This adventurous couple honeymooned in France, with one week in Cannes relaxing and running. Then they jetted off the Alps to join a bike tour that took them through the Alps and back into Paris, where they got to play spectator for a change at the Tour de France. Wow, that sounds like a lot of pedaling but also a lot of fun. So jealous!
Northstar is such a beautiful location for a ceremony and fit this couple’s active, outdoor personalities so well. It was felt in the easy-going nature of the whole day – I loved every minute of it.
