I always feel lucky to love the job that I have. On this particular day I felt even more lucky…Gretchen and Matt picked up me and Kristi (who offered to help me with the shoot) to head up to high country. Matt’s family has this most amazing property off of Ice House Road (have I mentioned that it is amazing?) WOW! The air was crisp, the sunlight was warm and clear and it was the perfect chance to get to know Gretchen and Matt (and Bee, one of the sweetest most mellow 2.5 year old dogs I have ever known) better before their wedding this August 22, 2009. Wild flowers, a lake, rock outcroppings, high country vegetation, a big blue sky and a herd of mules who in fact stampeded full speed toward me while Matt and Gretchen were in the cabin changing. I must admit that this was my first stampede other than by a goat when I was 5 years old. My first thought was (cr*p), my equipment, my second thought was (cr*p), what about “me” ???, and my third thought was (cr*p!) why am I not shooting this????? So, with a lens baby on my camera, I managed one action shot after standing frozen for several seconds. Matt and Gretchen were so much fun to spend time with- I look forward to their wedding!
