You know when you just click with someone? As a photographer, this is pure joy, especially if they are your subject. Nerves go away, trust prevails and that creative flow just happens- where you move from one idea to the next gently and confidently, and maybe a little giddily too.
The Gimpel family came referred to me by the Little family(thanks Bob and Kim). Alison, Ross, Ayla(6) and Sage(4) said this was their first “real” family session. So, off we went climbing to through the bear clover to get to the top of the hill overlooking Jenkinson Lake, well, because there was “light” up there. Before I took off up the hill, allowing the light to magnetically pull me, I thought it a good idea to check in with the kids. Were they up for this as their shorter legs would be required to climb over the brush and I didn’t want to trash their energy before we even got started. They were game. Apparently, hiking is not a problem for this family- as they adventured up Mt Hood this past September. They were up for anything- and I just love that! It’s adrenaline for me. Hike and shoot. I like it!
Alison grew up in Pollock Pines and is now a Transitional Kindergarten teacher(TK)- and she has a beautiful way with her children. They both do. Ross grew up in New Jersey and works in the “AV” field(audio visual). Not unlike many couples whom I photograph weddings for these days, they met on E-Harmony and their family seems a perfect fit for each other.
