For my first shoot of the year I picked up my assistant Cassie and we headed down to San Francisco for the weekend. We met Emily and Shannon near their apartment in the Mission. Up until a couple days before the session, it was set to be a fabulous and sunny San Francisco afternoon. I had envisioned the sun casting its late light on the SF skyline. This was what I was counting on until my husband hollered down from his laptop that morning….”You know it’s going to be dumping rain in SF, don’t you?”. Well, no I didn’t, until then. Jeff always knows what the weather will do, he follows it religiously waiting for powder to fall from the sky. I never have to check the weather in the winter, I just ask him.
Anyway- I packed up baggies and umbrellas, slickers and Gortex’s and hoped for the best. I really don’t mind shooting in the rain as long as my subjects are good with it and my gear has a warm place after to dry out. I mean, rain, fog, San Francisco, seems about right- right?
Emily and Shannon know how to roll with it and I immediately loved them for it! I knew they would be like that as they were a referral from some of my favorites clients, Tiffany and Keith. They weren’t going to let a little rain get in the way. We headed up to Bernal Heights first, hoping that the skyline would still be in view and it was-mostly! Then it was down to the streets of the Mission and where friends had set them up for their first date at the Velvet Cantina.
In May we will head out to the beautiful Vine Hill House in Sebastopol where they will exchange their vows with close family and friends witnessing. I love shooting in new locations and this will be a first for me. Enjoy your blog teaser Emily and Shannon

Love these and agree the rain just made it that much more interesting and unexpected. Thanks to Lisa for being so great to work with and for these wonderful shots. Tif & Keith – we want to see your photo in front of the Velvet Cantina now! That’s where we were introduced by Ashley & Ryan…and 2 blocks from where we live now.
