I love Senior session time! As a mother myself, I feel the mixture of emotion and excitement for these “coming of age” photos. It’s such a great opportunity to mark the first step into adulthood and, quite often, one of the last times that parents get to celebrate their sons and daughters as they were when still living at home; so much changes from hereon out!
This session was all about Dylan, whose brother, Ryan, I photographed a few years back for his Senior portraits For Ryan’s session, mom attended the session but shied away from the camera. But this year Trisa sat in for some photos. There have been some tragic losses of high school students in the area over the past few years that have made every mother in the area recognize the preciousness of time and the precariousness of tomorrow. This was definitely a present feeling during this session as Dylan was wearing a commemorative wristband for his friend, Tim, who died in a car crash two years ago (you can see him looking at the wristband in a photo, below.) In a twist of fate, I had actually photographed Tim’s memorial. So, if you’re reading this and you’re a mom… get in those photos! Don’t wait until you’ve lost ten pounds or started working out or whatever is holding you back.
Dylan is graduating from El Dorado High this spring and then heading to Sacramento State to study architectural engineering. He’s a fun, easy-going guy and I wish him the very best of luck in his studies.
Special thanks to my assistant, Shelley, for her help on this session.
