Chuck + Julie ~ Christy Hill, North Lake Tahoe

by Lisa Richmond

10 years ago, Chuck was listed as one of the top 10 most eligible bachelors in Sacramento Magazine (as was mentioned quietly to me when I inquired how they met).

Then Chuck met Julie.

On a perfect, breezy day on the North Shore, Chuck and Julie had a sweet, quaint wedding at the gorgeous backdrop of Christy Hill Resturant in Tahoe City.

Fun-loving, light-hearted, they gathered their friends and family with lots of good food and joking around. What a great way to commemorate starting married life together!

Julie and Chuck are active and like to bike and run together. They share a great sense of humor, as do their guests. Many of the toasts referred to Julie’s “evil” cat (that Chuck pretends to like). Chuck’s brother did not miss the opportunity to rib him a bit, and joked that Julie went for the first six eligible bachelors first, then eventually settled on Chuck.

A couple of days before their wedding, Christina, a fabulous floral designer and the wedding coordinator from A Bud and Beyond, received notice that the last concert of the season on the beach, right outside Christy Hill, would be happening during Julie and Chuck’s ceremony. And while funk and reggae might seem like a good thing for the reception, it wasn’t exactly the mood they had in mind for their vows! With a little creative planning and the go-with-the-flow attitude of the couple, Christina rearranged the day to start with cocktails, then move to dinner and toasts, and then, once the beach had cleared out, to the ceremony and reception. And it worked perfectly.

The music (well, other than the reggae and funk from the beach) was provided by Ike and Martin, who were really great. They did covers as a duo, and their renditions were inspired—I even remember some Led Zeppelin howling! (Chuck’s favorite song is Zeppelin’s “Cashmere.”) Everyone enjoyed them!

Oh, and the food at Christy Hill is out-of-this-world delicious! The staff is excellent—they delivered great service and helped to make everything smooth. The sunset was moody and beautiful, and the fireworks that erupted from South Shore were the perfect ending to a perfect day.
