Just as the sun was setting, Stephanie and Aaron exchanged their vows at the beautiful Wine and Roses in Lodi in a romantic twinkle light ceremony, sprinkled with lots of laughter and officiated by cousin Blaine. Stephanie and Aaron drove up from San Jose for their engagement session up in high country. Little did Aaron know that he was just up this way the previous weekend when he was 4-wheeling with his friends out past Loon Lake. I enjoyed meeting Stephanie and Aaron outside of their wedding day. It’s great to get to know my wedding couples through a photo session prior to their wedding day. It helps me to better understand their connection so when the big day arrives, I know what is natural and what is comfortable for them, in order to capture them…

It’s so important to make sure that the wedding day is not all about photography (even though I am quite sure I would have fun with that). I try to encourage my couples to allow me the trust to capture the day as it unfolds—the particular rhythms, ebbs and flows that mark that day, and create a natural and authentic album of memories.

Darolyn and Martin exchanged their vows at Wine and Roses in Lodi. Bringing together family from all over the world, including Germany and Utah, they sealed the deal with emotion, humor and a fun and surprising first dance! Congratulations Darolyn and Martin. After Aundrea and Scott met, he wanted to see her again so he planned an evening out with their mutual friends. Amy and Ryan’s big day was set on the beautiful grounds of the Wine and Roses Hotel in Lodi. Every detail from the flower arrangements on each table to the coordinating shirts of the little guys, groom, and groomsmen was thought through. Everyone, especially their boys loved the party atmosphere. There’s a lot of behind the scenes teamwork that goes into a wedding. Vendors communicating with each other, ironing shirts at the last minute,  pinning on boutonnieres, etc, all with the goal of trying to keep the day running as smoothly as possible for the Bride and Groom. I’m always a bit nervous going into a wedding having not done an engagement session, or worked with the couple prior to the wedding, but I have to say that all of that went out the window the moment I met up with Kate in her suite. Jeff and Danielle are wonderful. They arrived at my doorstep with a thoughtful gift of a bottle of Zin-a shared favorite among us.  We took off to Lake Tahoe for their engagement session and with the help of my new friend Jaime from Rose Street we embarked upon a super cool place to shoot our session.
