  • Engagement sessions are definitely the best way to get in front of the camera before your wedding day. For me, I get to spend some time getting to know more about the couple and what their connection is with each other, all prior to their big day. For the couple, they get to know me and a little bit about how I work while spending some time in front of the camera. Wedding days can be full of nerves and I find it is so great for us to all have worked together in a more relaxed situation. They know…

  • It’s the evening before Thanksgiving and if you live in Pollock Pines, you likely just got your power restored after enjoying about 24 hours of lovely snowfall. While it’s hard to have the last working day before the holidays…powerless, I’m grateful for the oven. Yup, the oven. Sigh…mountain loving. But, before I retire to my own family gathering, I wanted to share this blog of some of my favorites with you. This is the 2nd year that I have gotten to photograph the Gustafson family. I went down to Folsom to their new home to accommodate their new pup, Gidget…

  • I have been photographing the Anderson family now for more than a decade. Like me, they have two tweenage/teen children that are busy with sports and social activities. And, like me, getting on their family schedule can sometimes be a military operation, especially as parents Jessica and Brett also coach soccer multiple times each week. That’s exactly how we found ourselves almost at Christmas before we scheduled this year’s session. What a blessing in disguise, however, since we decided to shoot at the family’s Folsom home to avoid the uncertainty of winter weather. The Andersons have a beautiful house and are…

  • Phyllis is the mom of my friend and long-term client, Jessica. Jessica and her family have been in front of my lens countless times in the last decade. But this time it was her mom’s turn as she reached the milestone age of 80. A former dancer, Phyllis knew she was having a party but didn’t know where, so she was not only surprised but thrilled when her celebration brought her to Arthur Murray dancing school in Folsom.  There was a dance exhibition and lessons available for those brave enough to step out onto the floor and an amazing spread…

  • Derek is a good friend of a good friend of mine, Ross, and he got in touch with me recently to capture some head shots. Although this hasn’t been something I have done a lot of in the past, I love to see how my style translates to new session types and so jumped at the chance. Fortunately, in addition to being a programmer, Derek is also a photographer, which meant he knew exactly what he wanted to capture and where, scouting out Folsom Lake College as the location for our session. It was a great choice and I loved…

  • I was so excited to hear that Brett and Erin were getting married, and honored that they chose me to be their photographer. I shot her sister Courtney’s  wedding last year, and was thrilled to get to work with their family again. This is just one of those families you never forget…in a good and warm way; kind, generous, joyful AND FUN. Many thanks to my past wedding clients, Jenn and Jeff, guests at both weddings, for their referral and for just knowing how we’d hit it off! We started out the day in Folsom where Erin and Brett got…

  • I love a man with a good sense of humor, and Jenn, you’ve got him. Dan kept us cracking up for the entire shoot. These two love the outdoors, which made the riverside location they chose perfect for the two of them. The entire shoot I felt like at any moment the heavens were going to open and it was going to start pouring on us, but Jenn and Dan must have better luck than I do because it never rained harder than a sprinkle. I can’t wait to see what these two have in store for their fall wedding…

  • I love engagement sessions and am happy to be moving back into the season for them. As a photographer- not only do I get to know the couple I will work with better as we earn a trust between each other- but it is also “no pressure shooting”…it’s a creative flow that you trust and follow without any wedding day pressure or schedules. Weddings have a certain flow to them, an almost routine-like schedule that has to be followed in order to make sure all the bases are covered. Engagement sessions on the other hand are a whole different story.…

  • “A wet knot is harder to untie than a dry knot”….and this is the ol’ proverb that is supposed to provide solace when it dumps on your wedding day. It dumped on my wedding day too and to this day, the wet weather will always bring back fond memories of the best day of my life: wet bride, lucky bride- I’m a firm believer! Karen and Dave’s wedding day was no exception. After meeting on Match.com and Karen, needing a little nudging from Dave to go out on their first date, they finally tied the knot in some of the…
