  • Maureen and Curt got married at a barn burner surrounded by the love of family and friends and the most delicious food(yay! paella) AND at one of my favorite venues, Fausel Ranch. A pretty stellar evening. This was in June of 2018. After buying a new home in Alameda and a honeymoon in New Zealand, they got to work on a few projects including some home renovations and baby construction. Little Odin arrived in September and I met up with their new expanded family at Fausel to capture them all, including Lucy, their rescue dog who enjoyed the wide open…

  • A few years back I photographed Jack’s sister, Grace and made an easy connection with their mom, Pam. Jack is the middle child at the Harrison household and I was honored to get Pam’s request earlier this year to schedule a senior session for him. Jack attends Union Mine and will graduate this May. He’s passionate about civil rights and likes to discuss history, politics and current events. I turned both of them onto Heather Cox Richardson, a historian, professor and writer. I thought they too might enjoy her current news digest and historical insights. Jack also enjoys music and…

  •   You never know where you’ll find your next wedding couple. As I was headed out to one of my favorite spots at Jenkinson Lake one evening with a family I was photographing, I came upon a couple and a few of their friends doing a quick rehearsal for a ceremony they had planned for the next day. We exchanged some small talk and I said, “I hope you have a photographer for this magnificent spot”, and they looked at their friends with iPhones and said that they did. As I was leaving I passed by their camping spot and…

  • Written by Kim Little, Principal of Pinewood Elementary Last spring, the Pinewood Elementary Parent Teacher Club set out a find an artist willing to brighten the Pollock Pines campus with a custom painted agility trail.  One parent quickly connected the school with Debra Power. Power, a retired science teacher from the El Dorado High School District now spends much of her energy on her passion of art and painting. To the schools delight, Debra agreed to make the group’s vision a reality, plus much more.  After a first walkthrough and meeting, Debra proposed more ideas to beautify the small school…

  • There is something about Juliana and her quiet beauty…inside, outside and all around her. This was just one of those sessions…and while I know it will be better for all of us with some rain to clear that smoke from our air, that soft lightbox of sunlight created by the smoke made for some spectacular light. I can’t think of a more lovely young lady that I would like to spend it with (well, other than my daughter, Ember who has been helping me out in the field). Juliana graduates this May from Virtual Academy and has a love for…

  • I’ve literally been photographing Graydon since he was born. This year’s session was mostly about play and action as that is what this eight year old, ALL BOY is about. But don’t let my ALL BOY declaration fool you because the relationship he has with his dad, Tom is super loving and super sweet- there is so much present love between them. I enjoy getting to spend time with these two each year. For the future, Graydon looks forward to everyone getting to the other side of COVID 19 so that he can be playing soccer again on a team…

  • Luke and Amanda didn’t let Covid 19 squash their plans to get married after 10 sweet years of courting. What was supposed to be a wedding on Maui turned into a beautiful Placerville backyard wedding with about 25 or 30 of their closest friends and family. This trend in micro-weddings may change the way weddings are looked at from now on. All the focus was on the couple and every detail was beautiful not only making it a year Luke and Amanda won’t forget but a day too. Many thanks to Jerri who used to work with me for connecting…

  • Can you imagine? The Neto family has been on a wild ride, which Marika called “an adventure, for sure”. I am sure these years have been riddled with countless bouts of stress and anxiety. Marika and Virgilio lost their home in 2017 to the Tubbs fire, and lived in their garage. Their family of three bought an RV and lived in it until they could move back onto the property after it was cleared. Then, two years later in 2019 they ran from their home, leaving their RV on the property as they were evacuated from the Kincade fire. This…
