  • At the end of last year I got the opportunity to photograph a couple of the trainers at Action Potential Personal Training Studio in Pollock Pines, Jessica Miller and Amy Teel. Both are my friends and I’m excited to see this business taking good shape up here in our mountain town. Jessica Miller moved her business up here this past summer from Placerville in order to be closer to her family and to take advantage of a larger and more flexible space. She picked a beautiful location in the old school house where many businesses working in arts and physical fitness…

  • I’ve been taking photographs since the age of 10 starting with a 110 instamatic camera, 24 photos per roll. In my post college and San Francisco days I embarked into a career as a recording engineering for about 13 years, even built a fairly successful one, Dance Home Sound, in an empty loft in Emeryville. I remember asking my Dad if he would loan me some money for the studio- to help get it going. Certainly, if he had been open to this idea (which he wasn’t), it would have required some sort of chart and analysis on what the…

  • Welcome to the world, Carter! Born on September 24th at 10:56pm, Carter is the first child to Ashley and Aaron, a wonderful couple whose wedding I photographed almost exactly four years prior (Ashley and Aaron’s David Girard wedding) Carter was ten days past-due when Ashley was induced early in the morning. She seemed to be progressing fairly quickly and so I raced down to Folsom to be closer for Carter’s arrival. Like all babies, however, Carter was moving at his own pace and the timeline slowed down some. So I ran around Folsom taking care of errands (and even squeezing…

  •     Hello Friends, August 10, 2013 marked the one year anniversary of my father’s passing. I’ve been warned that “the milestones are the toughest,” and ain’t that the truth. Just a week ago, our family and friends set sail from San Diego Bay aboard “Adventuress”, a 60 foot catamaran, to celebrate my dad’s life.  This post was created to share with our many family and friends who also miss my father – some of whom were there but many more were unable to join us. Please feel free to leave any comments, words or stories below as it is in…

  • I have been so lucky to have had amazing assistants over the years.  Anna, my assistant of two years is beginning a new adventure in South Carolina,  and I am excited to begin my own, new adventure with three wonderful ladies to help me out.  Let me introduce Rita, Amy and Jerri!    I am so excited to have Rita as my new office manager. If you know Rita, you love Rita and know just how kind and helpful (and smart) she is! I’m really looking forward to working with her! Name? Rita Sign? Cancer Dream car?  A Lexus RX…

  • Thank you to Michelle McDaid for capturing these images of Anna and I photographing the rings at a recent wedding- setting up these shots was only one of Anna’s specialties.    ____________________________________________________________________________ wing·man/ˈwiNGˌmən/ Noun: a pilot who supports another in a potentially dangerous flying environment. Wingman was originally a term referring to the plane flying beside and slightly behind the lead plane in an aircraft formation. The wingman’s role is to add an element of mutual support to aerial combat. The presence of a wingman makes the flight both offensively and defensively more capable by increasing firepower and situational awareness,…

  • For 5 weeks in late February through March, I was able to donate my time to teach a photography class to four 5th-8th grade students from Sierra Ridge Middle School in Pollock Pines. I called it “BETA” as a self-deprecating way to take the pressure off- as it would be unfathomable to measure up to the run of fine teachers my kids have been fortunate enough to experience at Pinewood over the years. You see, our school district has been working hard to keep the arts alive in our classrooms and I am enthusiastic to be a part of that…

  • Does it date me if I say I feel like Fred Flintstone sliding down the dinosaur tail at the end of the day? It has been a crazy busy end of the year season and I am most grateful for this and for all of the wonderful and supportive people I know, meet and work with all year long. It’s just a great feeling wrapping it all up for a week or two and getting all sessions edited and posted, my holiday cards mailed and client prints out and delivered. Signed, sealed and delivered. Sure, I could have done without…
