Families

  • I have a bunch of techniques that I use to get people to loosen up a bit and smile, but during this shoot Jeff, my husband, who was assisting me on this Tahoe shoot, utilized one that had honestly never crossed my mind before. Fortunately the camera was facing the direction of the clients or my white balance would have been really off….see if you can tell which image it is! I only instructed him to be witty and charming- I swear! We had a great family weekend with the Little’s getting away to Squaw- hiking, eating, tubbing and the…

  • One of my favorite parts about doing extended family sessions is getting to watch and capture how the whole family interacts. Cousins hanging out, grandparents interacting with their grandchildren, parents “working” their young children for natural expressions….and knowing that I am capturing a moment in time for this family that will be forever a part of their family history. I met up with the Tyack family for their extended family session at Sly Park Lake. The air was crisp, the light was beautiful and I couldn’t have asked for a better evening for this session. The kids and adults skipped…

  • I love that I get to witness families both start and grow as part of my job. I was happy to get the call from the Gustafson’s that they were ready for their family session. I had worked with Sara and Eric and their dogs a few years back, and was excited at the chance to meet their new little guy, Clayton, aka Mr. Smiley. Now, as Sara told me, she had a new camera but very few images of the three of them OR of her and their new son Clayton- THIS I understand as I have been documenting…

  • I first met Ross and Kristy several years ago for their engagement session. I loved getting to work with them and their daughter Kiki both for their engagement session and their wedding, and have since become friends. Ross has become my go-to tech guy over the years, and has even become a bit of a photographer himself (though he’d never admit it). He even helped me with my most recent workshop and has become a moderator of sorts on my Workshop Facebook Group. Recently- we were invited to go see Kiki play a soccer game and my daughters were very…

  • Imagine attending a college reunion for Syracuse University where the only “Orange” reunion attendees were sporting was carefully crafted into a handmade tie dye. Imagine getting together with not several thousand folks in a banquet hall but with 60 or so of your closest friends (and their children whom you’ve never met) on a beautiful property in Woodstock, New York complete with round the clock jamming. Imagine sharing a weekend with these very same people whose time at college was also defined by music, art, friendship and community. ahhhhh- ain’t it great:) Many thanks to my wonderful friends. I am…

  • I was so excited to get the text from Tony and Tara while I was on vacation that little Wyatt had arrived. I’ve worked with Tony and Tara several times over the years, starting with their engagement and wedding, then with their first pregnancy and year of life with daughter Zoe, and now their newest little one! Wyatt was so calm and peaceful the entire shoot, he seemed happy to just go along with whatever everyone else was doing. Big sister Zoe just couldn’t get enough of him, and stopped several times throughout the session to shower him with kisses.…

  • I’ve been photographing the Anderson family for close to a decade now, and I was excited to hear that with family visiting from out of state it was time for an extended family session. We all met up at Sly Park Lake and found a beautiful field of flowers to work in. The kids had a blast running around, sword fighting with sticks, and just being kids. I love connecting with clients each year for their annual family portraits, and being able to capture big family gatherings like this. Thanks to second shooter, Anna Vollmer!

  • You may remember some of Melissa’s maternity session photographs a few weeks back. Well, just over 2 weeks ago, Melissa and Eric welcomed sweet baby Jocelyn into the world.  We had the opportunity to go out to their house and take a few photographs of their new family of 3. Congratulations Melissa and Eric-looking forward to my next visit with your family in a few months!

  • Todd and Linda were a first for me. They are looking to adopt a newborn to 5 year old in the near future, and needed some fun photographs taken of the two of them to use for their adoption profiles. Linda has grown children of her own, and now after 16 years of marriage, they want to become parents together. We started off at Boeger Winery in Placerville, and then ended the session at their house playing with the puppies that Linda breeds. Thank you Todd and Linda for choosing me to help you on this journey of yours, and…
