  • For 5 weeks in late February through March, I was able to donate my time to teach a photography class to four 5th-8th grade students from Sierra Ridge Middle School in Pollock Pines. I called it “BETA” as a self-deprecating way to take the pressure off- as it would be unfathomable to measure up to the run of fine teachers my kids have been fortunate enough to experience at Pinewood over the years. You see, our school district has been working hard to keep the arts alive in our classrooms and I am enthusiastic to be a part of that…

  • Welcome to Placerville, Action Potential. Jessica, Jen and Joy are ready to help you reach your fitness goals- just give them a call (530-303-3083) or better yet, check out their Grand Opening on March 16 from 5-8pm(1973 Smith Flat Road). It’s a great space energized by some great ladies and even boasts an enclosed outdoor area for training in the sunshine- what’s not to love about that? Most of you who know me know that I am not only a big supporter of small business, and especially when women are out there making it happen, but I am also an…

  • Does it date me if I say I feel like Fred Flintstone sliding down the dinosaur tail at the end of the day? It has been a crazy busy end of the year season and I am most grateful for this and for all of the wonderful and supportive people I know, meet and work with all year long. It’s just a great feeling wrapping it all up for a week or two and getting all sessions edited and posted, my holiday cards mailed and client prints out and delivered. Signed, sealed and delivered. Sure, I could have done without…

  • September 6, 2011 When you attend a memorial for a “child”, as a parent, I know, you know, we all know, this could be you. How can this thought not run through your head? This just as easily could have been one of your own. Fear then sadness then compassion. As I sit here putting this slideshow together, tears running down my cheek, I am just as moved by these raw emotions each time it plays. Being a part of the community of Pollock Pines, I arrived at the memorial for Travis certain of the strong love and support of…

  • The other night on my way home from the Sugarloaf benefit, I had arranged to stop by one of my favorite wineries that I enjoy spending time at, in order to take some promotional photographs of a private event that they were having. Why is it one of my favorites? Well, a number of reasons- Jen and Brian are so down to earth and not only know how to make great wine, but almost as important, they know how to treat their clientele and understand how that completely ties in with having a successful business. In order to accommodate the…

  • I had a chance to again support the Sugarloaf Fine Arts Camp this year when my friend Nina asked me to photograph their annual fundraiser. People that attend the annual Sugarloaf Fine Arts Camp in Pollock Pines every summer are fun and creative people. That also goes for the folks that run and teach at the camp. That also goes for those that attend their annual fundraiser. It’s a great organization and I am proud to support them and the arts in our community. Sugarloaf provides classes for 6th grade through high school students in Concert Bands, Visual Arts, Theater…

  • Below the slideshow is the article my friend and fabulous mom, Melinda Gray wrote for the local paper about our trip to El Dorado Care Center. I know my daughter Jaz is one of the lucky ones to have Lorrie Hargon for third grade. Many thanks to Mrs. Hargon for understanding that sometimes the best education happens outside of the classroom, and to fabulous moms Beth Higgins and Melissa Opsahl for their huge efforts coordinating this trip. Thanks also to those parents who came along that day and provided assistance. Special thanks to Avelina Presley who is the Activities Director…
