Engagements

I always feel lucky to love the job that I have. On this particular day I felt even more lucky…Gretchen and Matt picked up me and Kristi (who offered to help me with the shoot) to head up to high country. Matt’s family has this most amazing property off of Ice House Road (have I mentioned that it is amazing?) WOW! The air was crisp, the sunlight was warm and clear and it was the perfect chance to get to know Gretchen and Matt (and Bee, one of the sweetest most mellow 2.5 year old dogs I have ever known)…

Brad just received his masters degree in journalism and Amber works for the California State Senate. We went to Sierra Banquet Center – a beautiful new log structure for weddings and events in Camino – for their engagement photos. Amber and Brad are getting married at the Ironstone Vineyards and Winery in Murphys, California in September of this year. They’ve been living away from each other for a while and Brad just moved back, they are looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together. David and Beth have been together for 9 years and have been engaged for 1 1/2 years! Beth is an accountant for her family owned business Dixon&Dixon in Pollock Pines and David owns his own small software company. They both love the outdoors and doing outdoor activities such as hiking and kayaking. In fact, the day before their wedding David and his grooms men are going on a kayaking and camping trip to Emerald Bay and coming back early in the morning on the day of the wedding! Andrew has been my neighbor since I first moved to Pollock Pines. I’m looking forward to documenting his wedding for his family as well as Molly’s. Molly and Andrew met at Los Hermanos – Andrew was Molly’s boss and we all laughed about how that is about to change! So far, this couple has had to plan their wedding 3 times because they’ve changed their location but have decided to have their wedding in Molly’s fathers backyard for a relaxed wedding. Ain’t love grand? Today I was supposed to be updating my website, which I did, sort of. I got side tracked and made a post about my 25th high school reunion(see below) and then started to work on updating my couples section. At the end of the day, I must admit, I am not much of an editor and instead of choosing a few images to use to update my site, I created a slideshow with well, many of my favorites. Lauren and Karl were referred to me by my friend Sharon who was referred to me by my friend Renee. I think Renee found one of my flyers at the winery where she worked at the time. Lauren and Karl seemed to be in the spirit of most of my referrals- happy, loving life and ready for anything. I love that! Most of the time, I meet all my couples prior to their booking me for their wedding. Because they live in San Francisco, I had not met Melissa and Ryan until we landed in the parking lot at Baker Beach to start their engagement session. It didn’t matter- We all had a great time getting to know each other while taking advantage of the amazing light on the Golden Gate Bridge.
