The upcoming weather forecast for the date of my shoot with Brielle and Trevor started to look bleak – it said rainy & overcast. I’m good with shooting in the rain-it can be fun, it adds a new element to work with, plus the almighty “umbrella prop”- so romantic! Many brides would want to reschedule, (having just had their hair and make up done) and I understand that, and would be fine with that, but not Brielle and Trevor, they were up for “whatever the weather brings us on that day” ! I was so pleased … it was going to be another fun & creative experience. They wanted something urban and a little edgy- so off we went to the Incinerator. Trevor and Brielle are very cool and fun people. They endured the pouring rain near the end of the shoot and were totally up for any ideas I had. The thing I love about engagement shoots(compared to weddings) is that they are a creative time for me to jump out of my comfort zone and try new stuff. I do this at weddings too, but not until I am certain I have my “safe” shots. I had a lot of fun with them and can’t wait for their large backyard wedding in June. I love the way these photos turned out!
Here is a great email from Brielle about the importance(to her) of their engagement session:
“Hi Lisa!
Thanks you so much for yesterday, both Trevor and I had a blast! I never thought I would be so comfortable in front of a camera like I felt after spending a few hours with you (and Cassie). I have always been a bit camera shy, but have realized the importance of taking pictures so I have forced myself to emerge out of my shell over the past few years. I realized yesterday I felt more comfortable as the day progressed, and was able to see the results in the pictures. I truly felt the last quarter of the day is when we started to click. The relationship we developed yesterday is key for good results on our wedding day. Our newly developed relationship will provide a better flow when it comes time to take pictures. I can’t wait for the big day! I now feel more prepared for my wedding day, and have all the confidence that the pictures will be great from start to finish.
Love, Brielle”
