  • Yesterday I photographed the Women’s March GOTV Rally in Sacramento. It was a peaceful event on the west steps of the Capitol full of women and men, young and old, who all felt the urgency to DO SOMETHING. Like those who have paved the way for my own rights, I felt compelled to continue to pave the way for my daughters’ rights and their future. It’s inconceivable they might have fewer rights than my mother or me. There were other protesters adjacent to the rally. Despite the sound of sirens on a recorded loop which were intended to disturb this…

  • I first met the Bryant family when they moved to town earlier this year from Carmichael. Jaxon ruled the roost as most curious toddlers do- often preferring searching for rocks and other miscellaneous items as compared to those pesky photos! But alas- enter some “to die for” sunset light on the lake and trees, and some mom and dad playtime and we were able to capture some gorgeous photos of the whole family too! That cute little bow tie….. I’m looking forward to Jaxon’s birthday session next month!

  • I had such a great time in San Francisco capturing some of the life that is now Lisa, Dave and Ramona’s to share! I lived in SF for a few years before moving to the East Bay back in the late 80’s early 90’s and I enjoyed being in some of my old neighborhoods. After Lisa picked me up in the Mission at the Bart station, we headed back to their home. I finally got to meet Dave who was getting Ramona up from a nap. We hit a few of their favorite spots in the neighborhood as a family…

  • Beautiful Sofia. We had originally met at 24 Carrot Farm for their gorgeous flower backdrop but we got started a little late. Just as the last little bit of sun was tucking away over the hillside and Sofia drove in, we decided to split her session so we did half of it up at Sly Park Lake where the light lingers a little longer and then came back to 24 Carrot the next day, a little earlier for the flowers and some warm sunshine. It worked out great and I was happy to accommodate Sofia as her family have been…

  • A few years back I had the pleasure of photographing Alec’s sister, Ally. This time around it was for Alec, the youngest of Avis and Andy.  As my friends and clientele know, I’m a music lover. When Alec wanted to include his drum kit and drumming in his senior photographs, I was “jazzed”. And then, I was only a little surprised, “Wait, we’re headed down to the river with his kit?” Yes, we were with the help of his roadie parents. However, as Quincy Jones said, “There are two things you can’t live without. Water and music” and it appears…

  • THANK YOU EL DORADO COUNTY! for voting for me as BEST FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER and also third in WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY! What an honor! They say that “doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life”- and I am so honored for the abundance that your friendship and support has provided for me and my family over the last 24 years. From pregnancy to birth to newborns to kids to families to high school seniors, to engagements to weddings and sometimes back around again. What a ride it has been! Fall Family photographs are in full swing. Let’s…

  • As some lucky people do (https://people.com/home/1-50-people-find-love-airplane/), Catherine and Mike met on a Southwest flight on a winter day leaving Denver. Mike had lost his wife two years earlier and Cate was newly single. Mike had a low boarding number and ended up in the very back of the plane in the middle seat next to Catherine. Cate was returning to Sacramento on a work trip as Mike was headed to visit a friend in Coeur d’Alene; he chose the long route with a stop in Sac so he could politely arrive right when the friend got off work. Cate fell…

  • “And we are starting a new life” was the title of the first photo session blog post that I did with the Skalos family. It’s also the lyric to a great Van Morrison song. At that time the Skalos family were new to Pollock Pines and wanted to document their family. Claire (bear) was a toddler and Ava was a big bump in Shannon’s belly (see the log of posts at the bottom of this one). That was in March of 2022. Over the next 2.5 years, I captured not only Ava’s first year but also their growing family. This…
