You may have heard me mention the name Ashlynn in countless posts past but this is the first time you’ll have ever seen her in front of the camera, well, not including her senior photographs that I captured several years back. Ashlynn is my assistant and just one of the sweetest girls I know.
This past summer, Ashlynn’s boyfriend, Sam, left for college while Ashlynn stayed behind here in California. Long distance relationships are hard at the best of times but, if you can remember the raw intensity of your first love, you can probably get some measure of how much these two missed one another while he was gone. So, when he returned home recently for the Holidays, Ashlynn asked me to capture some of their precious together time.
We met up near my house in Pollock Pines and took a walk around some undeveloped property, while I got to know Sam a little. This was my first time meeting him, although I’d seen photos of him on Facebook and, just like Ashlynn, he is really warm and genuine. As I said to Ashlynn in a text after our session “He’s a keeper, but then again, so are you.”
So wonderful to have the beautiful Ashlynn in front of the camera this time, instead of buzzing around me with a reflector. She has such a unique energy: sometimes shy and a little apprehensive and, in other moments, vibrating with energy and spunk. I enjoy working with her and loved photographing her and Sam just as much.
