Lily decided that 40 weeks was an insurmountable amount of time in order to meet her family. At about 34 weeks Kailey started having contractions and was put on bed rest. About a week after that, I got the call at 11pm that she was checked into Marshall and was ready to roll. I too rolled, but out of bed, grabbed my gear and a cup of hot tea and off I went to Marshall. Kailey and I giggled as her Tahoe maternity session quickly turned into a Marshall Hospital bed, maternity session/birth. You just never know. Lily arrived at 3:37am with the supportive encouragement of Matt(Lily’s dad), the skilled hands of Dr. Nelson(who delivered my first baby) and all of those amazing Marshall nurses.
Births are the best. Every last one of them. Simply incredible. Speechless. Emotions. Love. Joy. Life.
And now, the whole family is starting to get used to the rhythm of 4. For those of us who have been there before, we know. It’s not easy. Sometimes those feelings of not being fully present in every situation can seem overwhelming at first. Pulled this way, pulled that way. But it does happen, day to day routines start to fall into place and before too long you forget that you’ve even shifted into yet another high gear.
Kailey and Matt are an incredibly kind and beautiful couple whose love for each other can’t help but to seep into their parenting. I see it every time I’m with them and it makes me smile. Nyron, who just by the nature of now promoting to “big brother status” seems all of a sudden, like a big kid when just a couple years ago I was photographing his birth.
This process is amazing. Life is amazing and I’m honored to be there to help capture even just some of it for my friends Kailey and Matt and their family. Truly.
We will hit Tahoe together in later this summer and our maternity session will become a family session. Birth photographs to come.
beautiful.
and a little smirk….
I tend to tire them out a little 🙂
