Graydon is growing like a weed. Having met him for the first time at his birth, I’m so grateful to get to check in on him annually and the things that make this eleven-year-old, tick. In fact, this is my tenth session with Graydon. Though this session did not include it, I understand that he is a star and fierce competitor in All-Star Karting. I’ve literally been photographing Graydon since he was born. This year’s session was mostly about play and action as that is what this eight year old, ALL BOY is about. But don’t let my ALL BOY declaration fool you because the relationship he has with his dad, Tom is super loving and super sweet- there is so much present love between them. I enjoy getting to spend time with these two each year. For the future, Graydon looks forward to everyone getting to the other side of COVID 19 so that he can be playing soccer again on a team…

When you are seven years old and slip into the lake upon arrival for photographs gently soaking your blue jeans, what do you do? Well, you just roll with it…or run with it, or jump with it, or ride with it. Does it matter to a seven year old? It’s so hard to believe Graydon just turned five. Having known his parents since 2009 and having had the incredible honor of photographing his birth, I sit back and wonder…5 years ago? Really? Little Grayden has a special place in my heart. In a heart-opening demonstration of the circle of life, I photographed his birth less than 24 hours after I received the news that my father had passed away. Clearly it’s an emotional experience I will never forget and I will always feel a connection to this family as a result. Since then, sadly, Grayden’s parents have separated. Graydon is one year old and his light-up-a-room charm has only grown along with his little legs and chubby cheeks. These images were made just three days after Baby Graydon’s birth which I had the honor of attending and photographing. New, newborn photography is so precious. New parents are so priceless. I remember the adventure and it’s fun to witness through the eyes of a rested mom(more rested anyway).
