TIFFANY & KEITH ~ HARMONY RIDGE LODGE AUGUST 28, 2010

Tiffany and Keith love the outdoors and their wedding at Harmony Ridge Lodge in Nevada City truly reflected that. From the beautiful forested location to the dark wash jeans the groom wore, their wedding was a true representation of the love they share with one another. The reception tables were named after the things that join them ( single track, high places, and river play) and covered in beautiful wildflower arrangements. Their unique vows to each other included their desire for a family that loves the outdoors and adventure. And their favors, large pint glasses, were emblazoned with a Mermaid and a Lion, their symbols for each other. Other hints of the Mermaid and Lion theme were visible on everything from the seating cards to the cupcakes that many of the guests brought. The Lion comes from the fact that he is a Leo, and the Mermaid because she is a swimmer. Tiffany joked about the Bridal dress shop insisting that she ‘get rid of those tan lines’ before her wedding day from her swimsuits and sports bras. I love a girl that can just ‘laugh that off’ knowing it will never happen. The day also included a mini boudoir shoot with Tiffany which is becoming more and more popular. This post would be remiss without acknowledging that photographing a wedding is a team effort from the coordinator, to the venue, to the caterer to the hair stylist, to the flowers to the DJ (just to name a few) and then of course, to my fabulous team. I can’t thank enough, my friend, Doug Miranda for 2nd shooting with all his photographic loveliness and fun, and easy going personality. Anna Vollmer, my new assistant, ‘had our backs’ all day long and was everywhere lending a hand where ever she could! Thanks so much you two! And congratulations Tiffany and Keith- love you guys!

Julie and Brian’s Twins

Meet Juno and Kona! Julie and Brian got married back in 2008 – and now they have twins! Jaz and Ember met their babies last month and we are due for another visit soon!

CHERISE AND CHRIS ~ E-SESSION IN REDWOOD CITY

I met Cherise and Chris in Redwood City for their session. Cherise, a hairstylist, and Chris, who works at REI, are such a fun and vibrant couple. We ended up having a blast at the playground where they got engaged and getting some great images that really show off how fun they are. After the park we decided to grab some of that fantastic evening light over at the shoreline. I look forward to Cherise and Chris’ wedding at the Laurel Mill Lodge in Los Gatos next month! I love that they are having a camping wedding and that I get the opportunity to capture all of their friends and family celebrating their love with them for 3 days! Thanks Cherise and Chris for being so fun to work with!

David Girard Grape Stomp

My friend Judy, from David Girard asked me to come on out and shoot their annual Grape Stomp for their wine club members,
so Ember and I made a day of it. Here she is with her camera ready to shoot some photographs…

Not sure why I did not include the pocket book(fashion statement)…it was very sparkly!

Ember had a blast getting to stomp the grapes.

Sugarloaf Fine Arts Camp Fundraiser

I had a chance to support the Sugarloaf Fine Arts Camp this year by setting up a photo booth for their 8th annual fundraiser at Smith Flat House in Placerville last weekend. This year also marked the 50th anniversary of Sugarloaf. Sugarloaf is a summer fine arts camp in Pollock Pines that provides classes for 6th grade through high school students in Concert Bands, Visual Arts, Theater Arts, Creative Arts, Photography, and Jazz Bands to name a few. The fundraiser helped to provide scholarships for students who might not otherwise be able to attend. Attendees to the fundraiser had the chance to participate themselves in a few creative classes including: salsa dancing, crafts, improv, and even a flower arranging class taught by my friend Dottie from Camino Flower Shop who introduced me to Sugarloaf. I’ve been curious about this camp ever since I moved to the area back in 2000, and it seems that all of my most creative friends and colleagues are involved with it in one way or another. Only a few more years and Jaz and Ember can join in the fun! The fabulous Andrew Heringer Band closed the night in the round, campfire style. Sue and I used to exercise together with a bunch of other gals several(ok, a few more than several) years ago. I was thrilled when she called wanting to capture some photographs of her with her absolutely precious grand children, Kylie, Alyssa and Sarah. Danielle and Jeff ~ E-Session in Lake Tahoe

Jeff and Danielle are wonderful. They arrived at my doorstep with a thoughtful gift of a bottle of Zin-a shared favorite among us. We took off to Lake Tahoe for their engagement session and with the help of my new friend Jaime from Rose Street we embarked upon a super cool place to shoot our session. Jeff admitted that the “purple” shirt was little out of his comfort zone but was fine with giving it a shot:)(or two or three…) These two are in love and so comfortable with each other. For me, it is so much fun to shoot an easy going couple up for anything-and they were! After their session we hopped over to Freshies for a couple beers(IPA’s- another shared favorite) and some great food. I love getting to know a couple prior to their wedding day. On the way home Jeff followed the moon as his guide while Danielle and I played with the map app on our iphones…guess who got us there easier??? Can’t wait for your wedding at Wine and Roses! John & Elisha ~ Fausel Ranch July 10, 2010

John & Elisha exchanged their vows at the beautiful Fausel Ranch in Placerville on a warm day in July. Ever have one of those couples that everyone you speak with that day has nothing but kind words to say about them-about how generous and fun loving the two of them are as individuals and together? It seemed this way to me…even heard a story about John driving up in a moment’s notice(over an hour away) because he heard his friend was working on building a deck by himself. Apparently he stayed till midnight helping. His friend said, “that’s just the kind of guy John is”. Well, this is just the kind of folk they both are. Elisha, “Lish”, easy going, kind, and beautiful with a smile that lights up the room; one of those brides who lets the train on her dress drag on the ground right from the get go because it is going to get dirty anyway!

The ceremony included the blending of three vases of sand to symbolize the joining together of their family, John and his daughter Madison with Elisha. Their dog Trixie was also in the wedding and sufficiently tuckered by the end of the evening. Dogs add such a cool element to formal events! In fact Elisha told me she got nervous right before walking down the isle but Trixie made her laugh by running around! Congratulations John and Lish- I was honored to be a part of your super fun and memorable day. Many thanks to Cassie and Anna Vollmer for assisting and shooting, John from Old Town Grill for another fabulous job feeding us all, Amy and Dave of Feet First Events for coordinating and DJ’ing, Cael and Deana from Reel to Real productions, Mike Jenson of Jenson Films for the fun photo booth and John’s sister Alisha for the yummy cake!
